I have my Macbook Pro plugged into a Mackie mixer via an RCA chord. I have determined that the buzzing is coming from the laptop & not the mixer or the monitors that the mixer is plugged into. When the power supply isn't plugged into the laptop, the buzzing seems to be intermittant. Could a power conditioner solve this problem? All wiring in the house is new Romex, shielded wiring.
It sounds like something is grounding out into the laptop. There could be a loose connection internally.

1000? There's no need for 1000 watt reference monitors. Are you sure they're not stage monitors or even PA speakers?
A great sounding studio reference monitor set up should be about 60-100 watts a side, 6 inch woofer/1 inch tweeter, with an optional 100 watt 10-12 inch sub.

Newly designed tweeter phase cap smoothes the frequency response from 12KHz up to 20kHz, the last audible octave.
Broad Coverage Baffle Design adapted and applied from our current Atrium design but a more steeply-angled baffle design that maximizes critical mid- and high-frequency dispersion over a large area.
Speed-Lock Mounting System for easy, safe one-handed installations even in difficult locations. The greatly simplified mounting procedure means fewer parts to ?juggle.?
Anodized Aluminum Tweeter Domes with Rubber Surrounds are absolutely immune to the elements, provide the smooth, broad high-end range you need for larger outdoor spaces
Atrium Series Speakers exceed baseline industrial and military specifications for environmental endurance (ASTM D5894-UV Salt Fog, Mil Standard 810 Immersion, Mil-Std 883 Method 1009.8 for salt and corrosion.)
are them good skeakers for the price and what price
They're not good speakers at any price. People sell them out of the back of vans. If you can't buy your speaker in a store, it's not a good speaker.

I got a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Im completely taking out the old stereo and putting in a brand new one with subs and a new head unit and all new speakers. I'm gonna be running 2 300 watt rms MTX subs. The speakers that will fit my doors are 6 3/4" or smaller. The head unit i will have will push 16 watts RMS. How many watts will I need my speakers to handle and will I need an amp. I want my stereo to have a crisp sound and i want to be able to hear all the noises on all the songs with great quality but i want just a little extra bass.
If you want good sound, you'll replace the inferior head unit amp with a good outboard one. That will make any speaker sound better.
If you plan to stick with just a co-axial type speaker, try Infinity speakers. If you want to go separates and money is no object, check out Dynaudio Esotec Systems.
I got Bose Companion 5 computer speakers about a year ago, and I love them. Only, I just got an MBox 2 Mini and I can't afford to buy monitors right now. Is there a way I could play back the Pro tools audio through the Bose Speakers? They are USB speakers. Thanks
You probably won't get proper mixing sound out of that setup, but if your speakers will take the output of the MBox 2 Mini it might work. You can get a converter (Stereo 1/8" to 2x1/4" y-cable) where you connect the two 1/4" plugs to the output of your MBox and the 1/8" plug to the input on that control pod thing that attaches to your subwoofer. Remember that this is based on the assumption that either:
A) The computer can see both devices(MBox and the speaker system) properly at the same time
or
B) The speaker system will run without being connected to the computer and will still accept input sound then play it through the speakers
One thing to note is that decent monitors don't have to be out of your price range. M-Audio makes decent monitors that are very affordable and worth checking out. Most are self-powered and will connect directly to your MBox, allowing you to ebay your Bose setup (or change back and forth between the two setups if you really need your 5.1)
Cheers
