Hi,
I have a 3.1 setup because of the room its in, wanted to know if its possible to use the Dolby Pro logic settings on my receiver or do I have to use the stereo setting. Does the speakers miss any sound signals if in Dolby because there are only 3 speakers. I have gotten mixed suggestions. My components are:
Sony Bravia LCD
Martin Logan Quest '93
Denon AVR-2307CI
Mirage Os3 CC center speaker
NHT Pro2 200W X 2 channel
Infinity 10 inch sub
PS3, XBOX360, DVD player and HD cable
Any suggestions would be great...Knowledge is Power!
Set your receiver up for "phantom" surrounds, meaning you tell it in the speaker setup menu that your rear speakers are "none". It will still decode the information for those channels in any kind of Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Digital mode and play it through the front speakers.

Without the back speakers you will not get the full effect of surround sound. The back speakers only handle about 1% of the total sound but without them you do not get the feeling of immersion with sound all around. Also some sounds only come form the back speakers. If they are not plugged in you will not hear them at all.
With that said go to page 34-35 in your manual. You will see "Types of surround modes..." You want to select 5CH/7CH STEREO. IT is ok you only have 3 speakers. Doing this you will get the most out of your 3 front speakers. You sound field will be slightly bigger then just 2 channel stereo. You could also try the "VIRTUAL" mode and decide which you like better. Virtual will most likely only use the front left and right speakers. Both modes should make use of your sub. But I recommend trying to get the back speakers working. You will be happier with your setup if you do.

Yeh you'll be fine on that. SL is pretty easy to run.
My specs are slightly lower and I have no problems.
The only issues I get are a bit of lag and that's down to my internet connection.

depends on what u need it for.
if u use it for programs that use a lot of memory (like graphic design, film, animation, audio editing, etc) then u should get a macbook pro.
if u'll only be using it for word processing and internet, u don't need massive amounts of memory (RAM) or storage.

These speakers are all I hoped for - great bass, high end is crystal clear. Price was less than half (including freight) of the current price at Best Buy. Almost like cheap speakers that I wouldn't have considered a few years ago. I have been using four Sansui SP2000 speakers for 39 years (since I bought them in Japan) but these have relegated them to side and rear speakers and the old speakers are still fantastic. I would buy more of the JBL's in a heartbeat if I didn't have an attachment to the old speakers.
