Can a 2004 Mazda 3 stock stereo system power replacement speakers, nicely? Maybe Kicker or Polk Audio?

Stock stereo, 6-disc in dash CD player, 6 speaker system(4 6x8's leg level in front and rear doors, 2 eye level tweeters in front doors). I am no audiophile, nor a tech-spert. I think I have a blown front 6x8, and just want to replace them all, with some good thump, but can plug and play in the stock system/location. You are all the best!

yes and no.
the radio will send enough wattage for the speakers to play at moderate to low volumes but when you start to crank the volume past halfway they will sound distorted because the radios internal amp will be overworking itself trying to supply the necessary wattage, for best result you would need a amp on them

Factory speakers sounded better than the newly installed, High end JL Audio's. Anyone know's why?

After changing out the factory speakers in my car to high end JL Audio speakers. It seem to sound more distorted at higher volumes. Is it cause I need a Amplifier? (The factory 6x9 speakers was 4 ohm at 15Watts, my JL Audio 6x9 replacements are 4 ohm @ 60 watts) Do I need more power (Amplifier) to get better sound?

Just distorting from the factory head unit. A nice low powered amp will clean it up nicely.

Can you use bass guitar speakers in your car audio system?

I've been hearing people using the speakers from say Peavey, that are 8-ohm 350w, 98db sensitivity, as a replacement for car audio subwoofers. The main reason for doing this it seems is the high ohm and sensitivity, and it seems to be much cheaper. I believe another statement was that you need to get an instrument power amp, instead of a car audio amplifier, so you can get the most power to the 8-ohms. If someone can enlighten me on how all this works out, I'd appreciate it greatly.

Thank you!

Use a 2-channel car amp bridged. That is 4 Ohms for one woofer and 2 Ohms for two.

But those speakers probably won't sound very good without massive power. They are designed very stiff because of the high transients of musical instruments.

What is the affect of using 4ohm speakers in an 8ohm system?

I have a Lexus SC430 and the factory system uses 8ohm speakers. I blew several of the speakers and can not find replacement 8ohm car audio speakers, only 4 ohm. What happens if I use 4ohm speakers? The OEM speakers cost $200+ each so that is not an option.

If you use a 4ohm speaker, the power will increase from the amp, this could be a problem, if you are using the factory system and stereo. If it was designed with 8ohm speakers, it was most likely done for a reason. Switching to 4 ohm could cause unwanted affects on the radio amplifier, if it can not handle an impedance lower than 8 ohm.

Can anyone here recommend some great sounding speakers that will essentially drop into the existing factory locations. I know they are not ideal in terms of imaging and whatnot but that's not really a concern of mine. I just want a decent sounding system that remains stealth in appearance. I'd also like to keep the cost to less than $300 - $400 per set. Cheaper is even better since I'll have to pay someone else to install the system for me. Thanks in advance!
