Do round speakers have better sound quality than odd shapes(6x9)?
Bass

yes.
While I've never really studied the issue - I will state a pretty firm "yes" based simply on the fact that EVERY high quality speaker manufacture's BEST, speakers are ALWAYS round.

From what I can decipher it seems that oval speakers were probably developed simply because they have a larger surface area and therefore can move more air (get louder) than a round speaker the same size (such as a 6x9 vs a 6" round). So for stock speakers getting low power it would be advantageous to have an oval speaker vs round simply because they'd get a little louder, and true sound quality isn't that big of an issue - as long as they sound decent.

However - in an aftermarket application, especially on the higher end there is almost always ample power available and round speakers shine. The strength of the oval cone is much less than round so they distort much easier at high volume.

If oval cones could compare to round at the high end there would be more of them. It is that simple.

What is a good model and brand of speakers for a car. I need to get 5.25 in round spea?

I need to get 5.25 in round speakers, and don't know what kind to get, i'm willing to spend around 125 but cheaper would be cooler,
thanks, and i'm trying to get someone that would sound the best for bass

well you can get some regular pioneer speakers depending if you are using the stock deck in your ride but if you want a good system for your car you would want component front speakers with cross overs if your gona run an amplifier. and for the rear i would go some mids/ and for bass depending on your trunk and the music you listen too go sealed box type inclosure for acurate bass note and try to get an amp that is capable of handling wat the subwoofer has in power range but if you are going to get some door speakers just go with
your budget or juss get some thing flexible for if you want to upgrade you will not have to buy new speakers

One of my B & W speakers has a muffled sound and has lost quality and is playing quieter?

i have 2 B & W speakers and a amp, they are plugged into my PC. The entire sound system is old but has recently broke the right speaker has a muffled sound and has lost quality and is playing quieter. My dad will be realy annoyed if i can't fix them. My friend recently took of the fabric front to look at the round things, but that surely couldn't have broke it as he barely touched it, plz help.

"My friend recently took of the fabric front to look at the round things, but that surely couldn't have broke it as he barely touched it"

Oh yes it could.
The "round things" that you refer to are the speaker drivers - the bits that actually make the sound. I'm guessing you have bookshelf speakers, so they will have 2 drivers each - one for the low range (a woofer) and one for the high range (a tweeter).

If you damage the tweeter, you will get a muffled sound, because you have lost the high frequencies. It will also make the speaker sound as if it's quieter.

It sounds like your friend has broken one of the tweeter drivers - they are very, very fragile. The only option is to get a new tweeter (and ask your friend to pay for it...).

Ok..round or eliptical speakers?

ok..looking to buy some speakers for my car. What produces better sound quality round, say 6 1/2 speaker or a 6*9 speaker?

a good 6 1/2 will have much better sound quality than even the most expesive 6x9's. 6 x 9's are just about as good as the people who drive the cadi's and buicks with 6 of them in the back dash

Computer speakers wrong way round - problem or not really?

The one marked R is on my left, the one marked L is on my right. The wires are too short to have them the correct way round. Does this actually make a difference to the sound or not really?

no, just sound meant to be to the right of you will be to the left. So if you play games, it may sound like people are on the opposite of what they look like on the screen. Some songs will be backwards etc. The sound will be the same, just coming from the different side.

  • Buy Cheap Home Speakers

  • quality speakers for quality sound

We all want to hear good quality, crystal-clear audio from our stereo systems, but we don't want to have to purchase giant speakers or spend a large sum of money. The good news is, unless you are extremely particular about your audio to the point of being an audio fanatic, you don't have to worry about size or pricing. You can find a good set of bookshelf speakers that produce great sounding audio but are compact enough to sit comfortably on a shelf, out of the way.

There are a number of good sets of bookshelf speakers for under $100, capable of delivering astounding audio at a minimal cost, and superbly powerful despite their smaller size. Bookshelf speakers are not intended to be the equivalent of a top-of-the-line, full-on audio experience that will leave you breathless, but they are capable of producing excellent sound, even at a rather small size and moderate cost. Perfect for dorm rooms, small apartments, offices, or for anyone who simply doesn't want to clutter their home with large speakers, bookshelf speakers are an ideal option.
