well i had the same problem with speakers once so i just took them back and got some new ones, the ones i got next worked fine. try getting them exchanged for another pair, its probably something just malfuntioning in the speakers, good luck!!
I found some old but good speakers at the dump, and when I tried them out together with the Audio Sonic amplifier I was amazed by how good that ...
My neighbor's yard is 150 feet away. His dogs bark all day and most of the night. I'd like to mount a sonic bark control speaker which will produce an ultrasonic sound every time the dog barks. That's supposed to keep the dog quiet. But they are effective up to only 100 feet. I need a system that will work beyond 100 feet. Cost is no object. The dog owners will not cooperate. Thanks for your help.
I'd love to know of one too. I got one for dogs across the street, it was good for up to 50 feet. It helped, but they were a bit farther than that. Think the one I had was the Super Bark Stopper and it was the longest range I could find.
If the neighbor won't listen to reason most towns have noise ordnance's that will warn, then ticket dog owners for dogs that are left out to bark. The dog may still bark for awhile, but the owners will eventually get tired of paying tickets. Sometimes they even have it set up that after so many tickets they increase the fine till they get the desired results. I had to go that route once, we talked with the owners a few times, but they kept putting the dog out while they went to work on the night shift. So they weren't even home to bang on the door at 2 am when the dog wouldn't shut up.

also which of the three will fit and sound better
Definately leave them sealed. Those type of speakers are made for sealed boxes,if you port them it will end up making them sound flat with no bass.
especially the ones from M-audio.
it doesn't make sense. what is the difference between them and Creative, Edifier or Sonic Gears amplifiers/speakers? they are much cheaper and have louder sound and bass.
The point of studio monitors (or headphones, etc) is not to sound "louder" or have "bigger bass", but to be *accurate*.
Studio speakers are built to have a flat frequency response, something that isn't really all that popular. Consumers prefer speakers and headphones that emphasize the bass and treble frequencies (louder, more bass). That's all fine and dandy, but if you're a recording engineer, you need to hear what's being recorded *exactly* the way it sounds. Without this accuracy the music would sound weak and dull... since the treble frequencies were being boosted by his headphones, he would hear weak treble as just fine, same thing with bass frequencies. You would pop it into your stereo and it would sound like crap.
I don't think you need an uber expensive set of studio speakers or headphones to record and mix, but you do need something that is pretty accurate and can reproduce bass frequencies well... not emphasized or exaggerated, but accurately. I've been very pleased with any number of <$200 studio headphones, for instance, but I always triple check my mixes against other playback devices - an mp3 player, a boombox, computer speakers, car stereo, etc. But that's mixing territory, and getting a little off topic.
