Sound Advance Speakers

We are finishing our basement and the speaker wires have already been put in place for the rear speakers, but not the front speakers. I have been told the length of the speaker wires should all be the same so that the sound arrives at the speakers at the same time. Is this true? If so, i sure hope the contractors measured how much was used on the other side. Thanks for the help in advance.

That myth has been going around for years. Please, please do not worry about it. Whoever started that myth never studied audio engineering.

Speaker wires need to be as short as possible and of a proper guage (probably 16 guage or bigger).

Our basement was recently refinished and I bought the Sony Surround Sound Speakers (Model SW576). The walls are already wired for surround sound with the speaker cables in a plate coming out of the wall at the rear and front of the room. Do I need to buy brackets to hold the speakers in place, how much are they, and if I do need to buy brackets, what do I do with the wall plate that has the speaker wire coming out of them. Also, if you can suggest a reasonable price and place to buy them, that would be awesome too.Thanks in advance.

If your speakers aren't too heavy, http://www.monoprice.com has some very reasonably priced brackets. I've used them in my own theater.

As far as the wall plates. what I did was mount the brackets as close to the wall plates as I could, so the speakers would hide most of the plate. You could also try painting the plate the same color as the wall. Do not try mounting the brackets to the plates, as they (the plates) will very likely break.

I have two sets of speakers for my car, one is better than the other. Which ones do I put at the front for a better sound? Thanks in advance!

The better sounding speakers usually sits at front in the doors, with the lesser sets at the back. I mean, why would you put great speakers at the back for your passengers to listen to while you sit with the crappy merchandise if you're the brother who paid for it right?

Tip: If you want the back ones to sound a bit better as well, buy a set of passive crossovers. They make sure the right sound gets to the right speakers, insuring they perform at optimum level. This increases sound quality quite much in the average setup.

so ive got a samsung series 550 hdtv. Ive also got a dvd player, with a bunch of speakers and surround sound. I wanted to know if there was any way to connect my tv to the dvd/home theater system, so that when im watching tv, it uses the surround sound speakers? thanks in advance!

Check the back of your TV for an audio output. If you have one, you can plug it into an input on your surround system.
