i have tried sound blaster surround 5.1 but no good doesnt have enough sockets for the speakers.
The audio output of a laptop does not have enough power to drive more than a pair of headphones or small computer speakers (a few watts max). If you don't use a powered speaker you will simply damage your laptop.
Review on Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi USB Sound Card 5.1 Surround (Day 1 of 2: Unboxing, Specs, and Tips) $59.99 at BestBuy Features USB 2.0 ...
I received the above speakers sold with a Dell computer several years ago. It consists of 2 front, 2 rear, and one subwoofer, and has always performed well.
I built a new computer with the above sound card. I have been unable to get sound to come out of the rear speakers. I have downloaded instructions for the speakers at http://www.proaudiosuperstore.com/pdf/al tec-lansing-ada745-instructions.pdf and the instructions for the sound card are at http://us.creative.com/support/downloads /download.asp and have tried multiple configurations without success.
I know that the rear speakers work because there is sound when I plug them into the port for the front speakers. Basically, I can't find a port on the back of the card that will drive the rear speakers. Anyone had a similar problem?
Go to the Soundblaster (Creative) Mixer console, advanced mode, and select 5.1 speakers. For some reason, if you have an abnormal shutdown, it can revert to 2.1. I don't know why, it just does.
Take care, Keith.
I have 2 sound cards: Realtek and Sound Blaster. Both work. ButhI want to open just 1 winamp and assign both sound card so they play. I want to do this because i have 2 speaker devices: a basic speaker with two channels and a logitech speaker 5.1 with the subwooffer. I want to use both with the two sound cards so the music sounds louder using the subwoofer.
What i have made is to open two winamp applications in order to asign to the first winamp the realtek on board card and to the other winamp the sound blaster card with directsound Output. But what i want is to plug the logitech speaker to the sound blaster 24 live and the basic speaker to the Realtek On Board card and hear the sound in both speakers when i hit the play button. But i can't do that. So in order to hear the audio I have to press play in the first winamp and inmediately play press button in the other winamp and try to sync the track I'm hearing.
Please how i can configure winamp with 2 sound card devices in 1 app?
I suggest you could go only for sound blaster and get rid on the CMOS settings to audio device to disable realtek.
I had the same settings with you I had 2 sound card for the first time it works so well. on two sound card device drivers, but in the long run. I had experienced a hardware problems on audio. Yes the device audio is CMI audio card and realtek on my motherboard builtin.
Anyway enjoy listening while its working, activating audio builtin and installing driver of your sound blaster.
Let us see how far your computer could go.

i was wondering if there was a way i could change the outputs on my sound card. For example the Front output could be the left output and the rear output could be the right output.
Typically computer speaker have a master and slave speaker... The master will have the power button and the sound level control where as the slave does not...
The slave should connect to the master at the back... there should be a receptacle.... The master plugs into your sound card.... Not sure on the Audigy 4, but try the 2nd or 2 receptacle from the left side of the card...
Hope this helps...
The new sound card is the Sound blaster X-Fi xtreme gamer by Creative
My old card stopped working so I changed it.
The surround sound isn't working, only the two front speakers are working.
You need to load the drivers from the CD that came with the card.

Creative Lab Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 VX PCI Review - SharedReviews
Experience excellent sound quality not always rated by having expensive speakers. Sound cards also hold an important role in this matter. It will be no good if you use expensive speakers, but still use onboard audio device. My computer have onboard sound card which is support 7.1 audio system, but I still prefer to have Creative sound card even tough my Creative only support 5.1 audio system. I choose this card because it can produce excellent sound quality. Also, this card has EAX audio technology and CMSS technology. EAX technology redefines my gaming and music experience with true-to-life 5.1 audio and different environment settings for realistic and immersive 3D positional audio experience....
