Sound Master Speakers

Okay, so I am not a total dummy when it comes to computers. I know my sound's not on mute (I have gone through the master volume control as well) and my speakers are connected as they should be.

A little while ago I had to un-plug them, and ever since they have been re-connected they havn't produced any sound.

Help?

This happened to me try unplugging then replugging and restart computer

I plug in the speakers to the computer and i get a alert that a device is plugged into the audio jack. The light does not come on the speaker when I turn it on and there is no sound. The master volume is not muted.

Get new speakers.

I have an external sound blaster sound card, and an insignia DVD player with optical-out; I have the DVD player plugged into my sound card's optical-in port, which seems to be working at least somehow - there is sound coming out of my computer speakers just fine.

Problem is, the sound only comes out of my front left and front right speakers - nothing is coming out of the center or the rear left and right speakers at all.

The speaker volume is on full - front, rear, and master. My computer's sound settings have it on full as well. Any sound produced from my computer plays out of all speakers just fine, as well.

Why won't the sound play through all five speakers?
I'm not using a program to play the DVD - I'm using a DVD player that has the optical-out plugged into my optical-in on the external sound card (as outlined in the question).
I have a USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX.
My speakers are also not digital.

You need to go into Creative's control panel and enable CMSS 3D on optical, as well as bass management if you want bass coming out of your sub.

Most Creative cards don't support 5.1 on optical or S/PDIF, thus you need to upmix the 2-channel input to 5.1 channels.

I left my master discs for XP Home Edition in Asia and need to reinstall an original version of XP Home on my laptop because I have no sound from my speakers and neither do I have any system sounds.

Where's the best, most reliable and cheapest place online to buy an original version of XP Home Edition (or XP Professional) in the U.S.A.? How much is it? Or a bricks and mortar computer chain store that can be relied upon as second best (cuz probably more expensive)?

No sound comming from speakers plz answer?
ok i got a computer last week off my friend
i brought speakers for it today and theres no sound my m8 sayz he doesnt know he never used speakers
ok so ive tried headphones earphones speakers
still no sound zip zilch nun nada and its realy stressin me out
plz answer ok b4 you say "go to master volume and unmute it" or 'check there all pluged in' or "yell and scream and smash your computer till it turns on " IVE ALREADY TRIED IT

wheeew ..ya need to calm down. It sounds like you are having a driver issue. Go here ..start...settings...control panel ..system....hardware...device manager. Look to see if you have any yellow ! marks...also do you see any sound, video and game controllers listed?
If you have a yellow ! or you dont have any sound card listed ..you need to get some drivers..
Turn off your comp..unplug...open your pc and see what kind of sound card you have ..look to see whats attached to the audio jacks in the back ...if its a card ...write down the card info ..should be printed on the card..if its on attached to your mother board ..write down your mb info ..then google the name of the card or mb and the word "driver"
Find the driver..and unzip it to a file
Then go back into your device manager and choose to reinstall the driver for the ! item ..guide the comp to the folder you unziped the files to ..it should do the trick ...good luck
