i am trying to buy a good set of computer speakers for my new comp but haven't found any shop in sydney which has a good range of comp speakers where i can test them before purchase. please let me know if you know of any shop. places like JB Hifi, Harvey Norman and Bing Lee just doesn't offer a quality range. they mostly just carry Logitech which i think is quite crap. and the other less known brands that may be good are not available for testing.
Can't help you on the listen part, but I'd check out www.cnet.com if I were you.

I can run Skype's audio test... and my PC's own audio tests... and they're working. But I get no sound from YouTube or any websites. Any ideas? Thanks
P.S. Im running Firefox... and always have.
I am running Firefox, too. What operating system, are you running. You may have to check into your control panels "Sound and Audio Devices program and make sure the Sound Playback device selected is
"Sound Mapper or the Default Sound Card Out". That may require some testing of different selections.

Okay, just 2 hours ago, my volume and stuff were playing normally. But now, when i play any sound, it sounds like chipmunks, or its very scratchy or when i play music, it sounds like electric music, and the voices are very quiet at times. And i have to turn it all the way up just to hear it.
BUT, when i play Realtek HD Audio Manager (to test sounds on my speakers) its normal.
Plug in headphones and see if still sounds like that if yes then its your sound card. If not the its your speakers.
I think my speakers are going out. Is any place on the web that I can find a good sound test. It kind of sounds like speakers are strarting to crack but its only at certain tones.
THX has a good one. Some DVDs will have a THX optimizer on it. An example would be The Incredibles Disc 2. This would be a great way to test out your speakers. Go to http://thx.com/home/dvd/search.html for an entire list of THX certified DVDs.
