Sound Surround Speakers

What kind o surround sound speakers should I get? I'm looking into buying an LCD TV, about 32 inches. I need speakers for them and i'm asking here if there are any type i should be looking for.

I;m not speaking types of brands like sony but rather compatible types of surround speakers with an LCD TV.

I'll most likely get 5.1 surround sound speakers...anything i should keep in mind with inputs or are they all they same...?

I have a Sony 40W2000 LCD TV and a Sony 5.1 home cinema kit. I also have Sky HD. What cable do I need to get 5.1 sound out of my subwoofer and surround sound speakers from a Sky TV programme if it is broadcast in 5.1.

Also where does the cable connect to and from. Will a HDMI cable do it all or do I need a separate optical cable. Can you give me the exact name of the cable as it seems some retailers sell cables under different names.

as long as your home cinema kit has opticial in, then there is no problems

Just plug the optiacl from the sky hd box into the home cinema kit.

Actually...both previous posters are wrong. If you already have a surround sound receiver. Technically if you connect all 5 (5.1) or 7 (7.1) speakers to your receiver, it will distrubute the appropriate audio signals to each. So if you have 5 speakers laying around, you can wire them to your receiver and it will do the rest. Now, it may not sound too good unless all speakers are the same or similar. You can also try purchasing just a speaker system for your surround sound. Try place's like Fry's Electronics or Best Buy.

How are Bose Surround Sound speakers different from regular speakers?
The info im really looking for is what is the effect of the Surround Sound.

They have a series of baffles that basically bounce the sound waves around to create constructive interference magnifying the signal several times.

Our basement was recently refinished and I bought the Sony Surround Sound Speakers (Model SW576). The walls are already wired for surround sound with the speaker cables in a plate coming out of the wall at the rear and front of the room. Do I need to buy brackets to hold the speakers in place, how much are they, and if I do need to buy brackets, what do I do with the wall plate that has the speaker wire coming out of them. Also, if you can suggest a reasonable price and place to buy them, that would be awesome too.Thanks in advance.

If your speakers aren't too heavy, http://www.monoprice.com has some very reasonably priced brackets. I've used them in my own theater.

As far as the wall plates. what I did was mount the brackets as close to the wall plates as I could, so the speakers would hide most of the plate. You could also try painting the plate the same color as the wall. Do not try mounting the brackets to the plates, as they (the plates) will very likely break.
