How do you play LOUD music off of a reciever with BIG Speakers??

I'm looking to step up from my 700w Sony Reciever w/old speakers and make the jump to something that will allow me to play very loud music. I am looking to be able to host large field parties and want to be able to hear the music clearly. I own a large farm so moise levels are not a concern.

I want to be able to play my cds, records and mp3s like I do right now but I want it to be very loud. Can I use my Sony reciever with new self powered speakers? It is a Sony STR DE698 that has RCA outputs as well as an optical digital output.

Can u please help me to figure a way to connect my reciever (pc/record player/turntables/etc) to some loud speakers that could be used outdoor during large parties?

It would be great if this system coupld then be used along side a band on stage, like use the same type of speakers or something.

Thanks for your help, I'm able to learn new stuff pretty quick so I'm just asking for some basic starters maybe point me in the right direction. Thanks.....
ok. First of all I'm looking for concert volume levels over an area the size of a football field.

Second, I don't have $40,000. Closer to $2,000.

I am mostly asking what kinds of connections I will have to make to go from my Sony Reciever to a preamp to amp to Loud Speaker.

I have found out that most home audio uses RCA while "pro" audio uses 1/4" jacks, XLR Jacks or Neutrik Speakon sockets.

How do I go from my reciever to something like a JBL EON powered speaker?

What do I need (preamp, amp, speakers)??

okay im going to warn you before i begin that this is in no way conclusive and is simply a very basic guideline of what you might need. It is unfortunate that you havent really qualified what you mean by 'loud' and or given a budget, both of which are of top priority.

Im going to assume your budget is aroun £1000 ($2000)

Firstly you are going to need:
1. a proper power amp (check out QSC) I have a QSC RMX 1450 which blasts out about 1000w of power.

2. Get some real speakers. Forget about sony. You can build your own. Its not hard if you have the tools and a bit of self discipline (they have toi be reasonably accurate design).
try www.speakerplans.com
If you really want to buy speaker try and find someone who will build the boxes for you, then put the drivers (drivers are the actual cones) in yourself. It will work out cheaper and they will sound a lot nicer than commercial ones.

3. Get a mixer. If you have a mixer/mixing desk you can blast out any inputs from your soundsystem.

OR:

Save up £20,000 ($40,000) dollars and get a proper sound system.
Try Funktion One. Hope that helps.

EDIT:

OK,
Firstly, your are simply NOT going to get concert levels over a football pitch size for $2000. End of story.

the reason 'pro' audio uses XLR is because it is balanced, if you dont know what that means look it up on wikipedia but it isnt essential unless you are going to have a really big rig.

Your reciever will have phono outputs, these are unblanced. You have to connect these to a power amplifier. You will then connect this, probably using speakons, to your speakers. OR you will buy active speakers (speakers with built in amps, which are second rate to seperates usually), which you will connect directly to the receiver.

dont worry too much about the types of sockets you can always buy converters.

You will need at least 6k of sound for what you want.

Save up some more money...

hope that helps

Does playing music loud on a laptop hurt its speakers or the computer itself?

I know this is a paranoid question but does playing loud music on the computer hurt its speakers or the insides of the laptop itself whether it's any computer from mac to pc?

Thanks in advance

Depends on the type of speakers. I would assume if you blasted loud music from the computer 24/7 the speakers would get 'worn out', but I'm sure it isn't going to do anything if you play the music for short periods of time.

Is it bad for the speakers or gas mileage to play music loud?

I have a Ford Focus with a stock system. I just got an iPod transmitter so I'm excited about listening to music in the car. I play it pretty loud with the bass and treble all the way up. Is that bad for gas mileage or the speakers.

The complete volume isn't all the way up, just about 75% or 80%.
Oh and to Philbert, I did not mention anything about listening to rap. I actually like rock and techno alot more to you can stfu you ignorant dumbass

Everyone here is right., except the 1 b4 me that post wasn't there as I was answering. I popped my cheesy stock speakers! As for my gas mileage, oddly yes it was bad for me, I seemed to Lean a little harder on the gas when I was listening and getting into my tunes. I'm totally serious btw...life is short, it's ur car do what U want :)

p.s.s. I blew them out listening to hip hop ;)

i want to play loud music from my samsung g600 mobile phone, how do i find the best/loudest speakers? watts?

How can I tell how loud they will be?
I don't want it crazy loud, I just want it loud enough to put my phone in the corner of a room and hear it over the treadmill. What I really want to know is when looking for speakers/docking stations, how can I tell which is best?

It isn't the size of speaker or the speaker's capacity to handle loud sounds, it is the AMPLIFIER that gives the VOLUME (the loudness).

I'm not a killjoy, but respect your hearing. If you play music that is too loud for too long, then your hearing will suffer. Your ears have an automatic defence to loud sounds. Try this, play music on a radio at max level for a few minutes. Turn the sound down until you hear a difference then after a few minutes, the sound will seem to get louder. It doesn't really, but your ears will adapt to the lower volume level.

My speakers loud...(music) now I can hardly hear it ?

What happened ?? Last night playing YOUTUBE was loud when
I would turn up my volume, but now it isn't very loud anymore....
Overnight ?? How can I get it turned up again......??

Try Control Panel --> Sounds.. check the Device Volume and raise it if it is too low.. if it is at the right level, click Advanced in the Device Volume section and make sure the volumes are set quite high. Master Volume and Wave is the most likely to be set too low.

The volume control in Real Media Player seems to affects the entire computer, not just Real Player, so if you changed the volume there that might be the cause.

  • Remember Rock #39;n#39; Roll Radio | Share Spotify Playlists at ...

Do you remember rock ‘n’ roll radio? Do you remember when radio mattered? It is interesting what has happened to rock ‘n’ roll radio in recent years. While garage rock and its forebear rhythm and blues are the foundation of almost all forms of popular music, it is almost impossible to hear examples of either genre on the radio or television today. To the extent the genre can be found it is normally on “classic rock” stations, which limits its play list to the classic examples of garage rock music. While it is always good to hear the classics, there is an amazing amount of good, garage rock being produced today that never makes its way on to the airwaves. Fortunately, with the new technologies available on the Internet we are no longer dependent upon the programming geniuses at radio stations. We can create our own “radio stations” and program the music we want to enjoy.
