Computer is off, why are speakers playing music?

My mother just bought some new computer speakers (they're wired, not wireless). She turned her computer off, and the speakers start playing what sounds like a Russian radio station - talking about the Russian gas lines. It also plays music in a foreign language sometimes.

Why is it doing this? How is this even possible... how can it pick up a signal? It's scaring me.

better return it back to russia ....might be a ghost....lol im kidding.

Why are my external speakers playing music more quietly than before?

I moved, and so I set up my speakers in the same configuration that they were in before, but the speaker volume is only about half of what it should be. All speakers are plugged in correctly, and the subwoofer has power. Also, I'm using a Mac, so installing new drivers isn't an option. What could be causing this decrease in volume?

1. Have you checked in System Preferences ->Sound -> Output tab that output volume slider is way up highest?

2. Do you have a cellular phone placed near your speakers?

3. Just for case, check the cables, maybe there is a "naked wire" somewhere on it. If I were you, I'd unplug it and plug it back in just to be sure that everything is being connected properly.

4. What Mac OS version you are running?

Can you blow speakers without music playing?

Hi have a toddler who cranked the volume all the way up with no music playing. a few days later I noticed they sounded blown. It seems impossible but did she blow my speakers?

Definitely! by simply turning on a light switch [in most cases]. Something like a static discharg gives off a unwanted feedback that is based upon the current flow and it is kind of like a back braft or overflow, being that the amp will save itself from blowing [likly due to the fuse in it], it will discharge the current just as a fire is looking for a way out [backdraft], to the nearest external source. this is the same with the current looking for an exit and it escapes from the speakears, if the current or discharge is high being that speakers carry a sensitivity limit, and the discharge is more than the sensitivity limit than they will blow. This works the same with plugging in the wrong channel[s] or turning off a source that requres the amp or receiver to be turned off first instead, there are many ways.

what would happen if you placed a petri dish of ferromagnetic liquid on a pair of speakers while playing music

i was wondering if its possible to make a homemade ferromagnetic sculpture that moves while the music plays on the speakers.... assuming the speakers arent magnetically shielded..

Interesting concept. There are no ferromagnetic liquids, per se, but you may be able to do something with iron filings suspended in a thick oil or something. Think in terms of acoustically modulating the current in an electromagnet' field to get a motive effect of some sort. Different modulations in different magnets are necessary to change the field vector. Otherwise, only the field magnitude is modulated. A rythm section maybe for the other?

need to have multiple speakers playing same music?

First off, I don't know too much about receivers and stuff . . . I am opening a store and need to place at least 10 - 15 speakers in my store that will pump, out music that originates from an ipod. How do I do this?

What is your budget?

You could try a simple stereo receiver and a 70V distribution system. Cheap but not Hi Fi sound, but when did I go to a store to listen to good music.

If you want a good system there are other options but the cost is exponential.

You could add talk over and other features as well.

See a local commercial AV company in your area. They specialize in this sort of thing and will give you an idea and a price range as well. You might want this since setting up a 70V system requires a little expertise.

Good Luck!
