Speakers System

I own a 7.1 Receiver and 7.1 speaker system, I have some more speakers in my house and I was wondering how do I add speakers without damaging my system, do i add anything like another receiver, how should i go about this?

Chickie, you are about as clear as mud! Do you now have 7 speakers + a sub hooked up and want to add MORE? If so, why? If not, what are you trying to accomplish?

I have a Samsung HD TV and I am planning to buy a DVD blue ray player. I dont want a suround sound system with a subwoofer as it is too big. I just want to add speakers near the TV. What are the best speakers I can get under £300?? Thanks everyone.

All we can do is to tell you to use magnetically shielded speakers. what is good sounding to my ears may sound horrible to yours and vice-versa. Here is a site to look at and make a shortlist of some suitable speakers in your preference for size,looks and price range. you must then arrange to listen to them before you purchase any so that you will know you are going to enjoy listening to them. Any decent Hi-Fi shop will let you listen and help you with your choice

I have the Coby 5.1 Channel home theater speaker system. I hooked it up but I only hear sound from the front left and front right speakers. Should I be hearing sound from the center and surround left and right speakers as well?

all depends on what settings are on. there should be a button on the actual reciever and the remote to switch the different types of sound that could be played and what speakers are to be used. ALTHOUGH, the reason you may have all of the speakers activated and you only hear audio from the from front left, middle, and front right, is because the channel or movie that you are playing does not have 5.1 audio. meaning only the front will work and possibly the back but it will play the exact same audio as the front only a lot quieter. every movie is now made at least 5.1 so no worries with that. television channels do not ALL include 5.1, but some may!

Is it worth buying Jamo C 809 speakers for home theatre in comparison to Bose Lifestyle 35 Speakers System. Though I understand that price wise Jamo will be costlier but is it worth going with Jamo or shall I go for Bose by playing safe?

It's worth going for Jamo C 809 speakers. No audiophile will ever suggest Bose.

I want to buy the Sony STR-DG820 7.1; however, I don't know which speakers system would be suitable for this.

A friend of mine said even though you choose a 5-star speaker system, it may not work smoothly with the AV receiver. Is it true? Why does it sound like a mystery?

This may or may not be an answer to your question, but here it goes.

To make sure the speakers will work with the receiver, just make sure of a few things...

The Ohmic rating is the same on the speakers and receiver... Like my receiver is 8ohms, I need 8ohm speakers for it, etc. An audio salesperson can help with that.

Make sure the receiver has enough wattage for the speakers, preferably meeting the speakers peak wattage, not just regular running wattage.

Other than that, there isn't much to worry about when matching speakers with a receiver, other than how you want them to look and sound, that's all in the speaker quality, size, etc.
