So I've got a Shure58 and a Mixer, but don't have any special speakers to run my Vocal Mic To, should I buy a special amp, can I run it to normal speakers, or a an old guitar amp? Any advice?
For what purpose? Recording? Voice? Instrument? Instruments? Communication via internet? Live performance? If the latter, what is the venue size? Is it spoken or sung? Is it death metal or a speech on global warming? Who is your audience? Does your mixer have a pre-amp?
Yes you can use a home stereo amp, guitar amp, PA amp.

yeah so i dont really have enough money to buy a half stack or any thing so i was just wondering if it would be possible to take speakers from a stereo and use the amp like an amp head type idea, i dont know really any thing about wiring at all but if i figured this out i could go to a flee market buy some big speakers or what not wire em up and not have to buy a freakin 600 dollar halfstack
for guitar btw
Huh....I actually used to do this! Yes, you can plug a guitar into a stereo amp. All you need to do is find a way to adapt the 1/4" plug to the dual RCA auxillary inputs. They are high-impedance inputs that can amplify an instrument signal just fine. So, just pick up a single 1/4" plug to dual male RCA plugs you're good to go. Here's one from RadioShack but it's only 6-inches long....http://www.radioshack.com/product/index. jsp?productId=2103863&cp=&sr=1&a mp;origkw=1%2F4%22+to+RCA&kw=1%2F4+t o+rca&parentPage=search. You'll likely want to get a 1/4" plug-to-1/4" jack so you can play more than 6-inches away from your stereo :-)

I used to have a car stereo system (stereo, amp and 2 12' subs). When I blew my back speakers about 2 years ago, I took out my subs. The amp and all the wiring remained in my car. About a week ago I put the subs back in my car. Everything was working fine, until yesterday the subs started randomly cutting out...they would work and then not work. I fiddled around with the cables in the back and subs started working again so i continued on my drive. Halfway on my way to work,as i was turning the volumn up on the stereo, the stereo, amp and subs all shut off. When i got home from work I checked to see if it was a blown fuse, I checked both the car stereo fuse and the fuse on the amp. Both are still intact. I also checked to see if my stero had an internal fuse and I did not see one. Next I checked to see if maybe the ground wire had gotten lose, I actually re-wired the ground wire and still had no luck! Finally, I tried unconnecting and reconnecting to the battary and its still dead. HELP!!
If everything is dead, and you've checked the fuses on the amp and the radio, then check your fuse in your fuse block. That is only if the radio is connected through the factory harness. It should be marked "radio". If not, let me know. We can go from there. Hope this helps.

Probably THE BEST combination if u want your car to blast. Now I want my room to shudder... This is for experimentation purposes to work an entire car audio system in a home setup. Please help with the connections etc with detailed description of the same regarding wiring and appropriate power supply. Thanks...Will be highly appreciated...; )
If you have an extra computer power supply hanging around say about 500 watts or higher you could try that .
i have a pontiac sunfire 2000, i dont know if putting a system will mess up my car.
If it's done right, it won't mess up anything in your car.
The people who say it won't be as loud or sound as good as hooking it up to an after-market head unit are wrong. A 200 watt amp (for example) doesn't suddenly become a 100-watt amp because you're using a factory deck for a source; in fact, I've found that I usually have to adjust the gains down more when connecting to a factory radio than I do when connecting to an after-market radio. And the sound quality will be fine if you don't use a low-quality line-out converter. I've installed literally hundreds of amplifiers with stock radios, and in almost every case you wouldn't be able to tell the difference from using an after-market deck.
The line-out converter is the device that is connected to the speaker wires and converts the sound to a lower-level output that can be used with an after-market amplifier's inputs. Here's a very good one for a good price (scroll down to the NE-7V): http://www.autosound2000.com/adaptor_pro ducts.htm
The other tricky part in your car is telling the amp when to switch on and off. Your factory radio is controlled by the computer data bus, and you can't tap into that wire to switch the amp on and off when the radio turns on and off. Instead you have to connect the amp's control wire to a power source that will turn on and off with your ignition key. It's not too tough if you know how to test the wires, but if you're unsure it's probably a good idea to have a professional installer do the work for you.
