How can I clean the cloth front of my stereo speakers?

I have the stereo in my kitchen and the speakers are light grey. Over time, the speakers have become increasingly dirty. I have tried to get the fronts off, but they seem to be stuck on. Any ideas?

Another cleaning question- Wax on speakers?

We have stereo/surround sound speakers on top of our entertainment center which were splashed with candle wax. The wax has dried onto the cloth covering on the speaker. Anyone have a way to get rid of it without ruining the speaker?

What is the model of this RCA record player/8 track/stereo?

My grandpa owns a vintage RCA record player/8 track/stereo that I'm interested in owning and restoring one day. All I know about it is that it is in a black wooden case, has a red velvety cloth covering the speakers, is about 2.5 to 3 feet high and it opens from the top. He said it's from about 1965-66. Can anyone tell me what the name of it might be? Like the model or whatever?

It's hard to say. The model number on RCA sets is usually either on a paper sticker on the back of the console, or is rubber-stamped on the back. I can tell you this...If it's black and has red velvety stuff over the speakers, it's from the mid seventies. Eight track players did not become popular in consoles till the early seventies. RCA made hundreds of different stereo console models in the sixties through the early eighties.These old consoles can sound nice (LOTS of bass!) and they are usually easy to fix up.True audio fanatics hate them, but they have warm, rich sound that's perfect for vintage vinyl.

Stereo system in a 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible??????

Hey I'm starting to restore the above mentioned car - Black with grey cloth int. I am going to put a new stereo in and I want a huge improvement so what do you think about putting some speakers in the pillar that goes over the front seats maybe turned down some but still offering a "surround" sound experience. What do you think of this idea and has anyone tried it before?? What type of speakers would you use? Just tweeters? More?

Thanx.

Theirs not enough space for me to explain imaging so I would recommend going to your local shop and seeing if they could give you the basics and can look at exactly what you had in mind as far as placement in the pillars, I am sure that if nobody gives you a web address your local library will have some help on imaging.

Car audio Speaker information?

Hi i just installed some new Pioneer TS-G1642R speakers in my 1998 saturn sl2 and i was wondering if my old stock speakers where 6 ohms and my new speakers are only 4 ohms can i ruin my new speakers?

my stereo is just the stock tape deck that my car came with.
the new speakers sound fine they actually sound REALLY good with no clipping or any other weird noises that are audible.

here are my new speakers details.

# 6-1/2" G Series Car Speakers
# Power Handling:

* Peak: 180 watts
* RMS: 30 watts

# Injection molded polypropylene cone woofer
# Cloth surround
# 1-3/16" Polyetherimide dome tweeter
# Shallow basket design for installation versatility
# Increased installation versatility with extra tabs
# 4 ohms impedance
# Top-mount depth: 1-11/16"

are my new speakers at risk of being ruined?
Best answer gets the points.

Thank you.

The ohm rating is for impedence levels as referred to by the amplifier, if your stock stereo is doing fine with these new speakers, you should have no problem. No matter what the ohm rating is, as long as you dnt exceed the wattage rating, you wont hurt the new ones, maybe the amplifier, but not the speakers. rock on!!! I own a home and car audio business, been doin it for 15 years.
