I have my television connected to my stereo receiver. I am trying to use my television speaker as my center channel. All speakers are working, but there is a slight delay or misalignment in timning between the tv speakers and stereo speakers, creating somewhat of an echo. What can I do?
check that all rca's are connected proper and that they aren't in rough shape
I explain how to connect standard computer speakers or headphones to your tv, or how to connection stereo speakers to your computer.
we have just moved house and need wireless only solutions around the house in connecting a mac (osx 10.4) to a sony hifi in a different room to link up and play itunes through the stereo. we need a wireless modem and adaptor to connect to broadband as phone line is in a separate hallway. we also would like a wireless connection from our samsung (new) tv to the same stereo to again play sound through the speakers. also are there any decent wireless speakers for a mac as ideally we would like speakers for the same room where the mac is and also our bedroom. i have looked at airport express etc and visited many shops but am baffled with it all. sounds a lot i know but please advise in plain english exactly how everything would work and cost. all the above has to be reasonably good quality but also affordable.
I know i already stated it is a mac so must be mac compatible, if you do not know this please don't answer the question. Cheers.
Your stereo would have to be part-computer to be able to receive a wireless signal, I haven't heard of such a device except, well, another computer.
Instead of transmitting from your current Mac, you could buy a Mac Mini or even a G4 Cube and use that as a media centre - people do this already. There is also the AppleTV but I don't really know anything about what that does, I imagine it's for playing back videos from a hard drive direct to your TV.
There are numerous articles out there on how to turn a Mac into a media centre, here's one I found straight away -

I want the sound of my TV to play out my stereo speakers. The problem is my TV has an audio out, but my stereo doesn't have an audio in, it only has AUX in/out (Red and White). I mainly want to use this for my xbox, but the cords on my xbox aren't long enough to plug them into the TV and Stereo at the same time. Anyway I'll be able to make this happen?
If your TV has a single A.F. out you can get a Y cable that should put the AF to your RED & White ( left & right ) audio in jacks of your stereo.
You won't have stereo sound but you will have good sound .
See Radio Shack for cable .

I want to play an audio CD from my TV through my DVD player. I would like to hook up the sound from my TV to my stereo speakers. Can somebody give me a simplified, detailed explanation on how to do this? Thanks in advance.
Instead of listen to the CD through my TV speakers, I would like to hook my TV up to my stereo.
To hook up your TV to your stereo:
Get 3 cables with RCA connectors at both ends; connect
one cable in between the TV's VIDEO IN and your stereo's
VIDEO OUT; then connect another cable in between your
TV's AUDIO IN "L" and to your stereo's AUDIO OUT "L";
and finally, connect the last cable between your TV's
AUDIO IN "R" and your stereo's AUDIO OUT "R".
To connect your DVD player to your stereo:
Take 3 more cables, and connect one in between your
DVD player's VIDEO OUT to your stereo's VIDEO IN (if
your stereo doesn't have a VIDEO IN, then connect the
VIDEO cable to your TV's VIDEO IN instead); then take
another cable and connect one end to the DVD player's
AUDIO OUT "R" and the other end to the stereo's AUDIO
IN "L"; and finally, take the last cable and connect it be-
tween your DVD player's AUDIO OUT "L" and your ster-
eo's AUDIO IN "L".
If you need anymore help, just e-mail me, and I would be
glad to help you further if need be.

How can I connect basic stereo speakers to my receiver for TV audio? I have an older mitsubishi receiver. I have connected the speakers to the receiver and I've connected the TV to the receiver using input/output jacks using the video component jacks on the back of the receiver. I have the right component selected (Video/AUX) but I'm not getting sound from the speakers.
What could be wrong? How do I fix it?
Alright ,Tom let's get down to it. An older Mitsubishi is always a great unit. It should always work for you, so it must be a cable, or switch setting problem on the "M". OK, first the speaker setting on the "M". Which speaker terminals did you go into with your speaker wires, "A" or "B"?
Make sure the speaker terminals you went into in the back matches the speaker selection switch setting on front (A, B, Both, etc).
OK, now, your older "M" will not have "video" inputs on the back, and you don't bring audio into video inputs. (read your question again) Look at your TV. You must come out of the "Audio Out" RCA terminals of your TV, and, in an older stereo, you go into "audio in", or into "tape in" or "tape monitor input".
Then, if you go into the "tape in", or "tape monitor in" inputs from your TV, you must have the selector swich on your "M" set on "Tape", because your stereo will think your TV is a tape player.
OK, something is wrong, but it's simple. Check out what I told you, re-plug your wires/cables, and if it still doesn't work, click on my avatar, go to my profile page, email me, and we will fix it, or else something else is broken (not likely).
I'll be watching the question, it always "ticks me off" if a box of electronics tries to "kick my butt".
Holler if you need me, Magyver.

Followup: Transmit TV audio through your Mac

After my post earlier this week about transmitting Mac audio , readers contacted me about extending this solution. Although they liked the idea of direct audio while working out on a treadmill or exercise bike, several stated that they also wanted to watch from the sofa once the spouse or the kid go to sleep. The idea was the same: audio transmission to an iPhone or iPod touch. The source was different. They wanted to watch live cable TV or their TiVo. And for the punchline, their media center Mac lacks a tuner. Was there a similar quiet Mac-based solution that would let them transmit the TV audio from these non-Mac sources?
