Surround Sound Speakers Brackets

Our basement was recently refinished and I bought the Sony Surround Sound Speakers (Model SW576). The walls are already wired for surround sound with the speaker cables in a plate coming out of the wall at the rear and front of the room. Do I need to buy brackets to hold the speakers in place, how much are they, and if I do need to buy brackets, what do I do with the wall plate that has the speaker wire coming out of them. Also, if you can suggest a reasonable price and place to buy them, that would be awesome too.Thanks in advance.

If your speakers aren't too heavy, http://www.monoprice.com has some very reasonably priced brackets. I've used them in my own theater.

As far as the wall plates. what I did was mount the brackets as close to the wall plates as I could, so the speakers would hide most of the plate. You could also try painting the plate the same color as the wall. Do not try mounting the brackets to the plates, as they (the plates) will very likely break.

I know how to put them on the wall but how am I suppose to mount my speakers to the speaker mount? One of my speakers weight 2-3 lbs. So how exactly do the speakers fit to the mount?

There's usually a threaded hole or post on the back of surround speakers that allow you to attach the speaker to the mount. If not, then you have to set them on a stand or shelf. I would contact the seller with your model number of your speakers and ask if they're compatible with the mount. If not or he can't tell, then don't buy them. If so, then ask how the speakers get attached to the mounts.

I built a new house and the surround sound installer used standard electrical boxes with solid standard wall plate covers. I have found little info on the net about what will and will not work with these. Can I bolt on bracket mounts to the solid plate and make this work? If not, what are my other options, as this seems to be the standard for new construction homes that are pre-wired. Thanks for your advice.
These are on the wall about 8 feet up. Would it be possible to attach brackets to the blank (solid) plates? I don't understand why new home construction definition of "pre-wired" would result in having to run the wire out of the plate and then to a bracket on the wall. There must be some product that attaches to the electrical box? Thanks...
The speakers are small Bose cube surrounds...

It's difficult to answer this without more detail, so I'll give you some suggestions and you can pick what is applicable.

First, where are the plates ... near the floor or high on the walls? Are the wires inside the boxes, and you have to use some alternate cover plate? How big are the speakers?

Assuming you have blank plates on boxes high on the wall, the first question is how do you want to do this?

You can buy plates with a single round hole ... these would allow a wire to be passed from the box through the (new) plate and on to the speaker. Look for a plate for a rotary dimmer switch at your local hardware store.

Or you can buy plates that have speaker binding posts ... you would connect the wires to the inside of the (new) plates and then connect speakers using a short wire with appropriate connectors to the binding posts (See links for some options)

As to mounting the speakers, there are various options.

Some speakers have optional wall mounting brackets. These custom fit the speaker and may be an option.

Or you can buy speaker wall mounting brackets, or simply sit the speakers on appropriate size shelves, or install wall anchors and "hang" the speakers on the wall. The latter option works best for speakers with mounting cutouts on the back (e.g. keyhole slot(s)).

I'm not aware of any such plates. The issue is that speakers come in all sorts of sizes and it is usually the speaker manufacturer that produces a wall bracket.

I bought a house that had Bose speakers sitting on little shelves made from baseboard molding.
