i have a set of speakers and a sub woofer on my desk..the other day someone gave me another set of speakers for my pc...how do i configure them n make em work like surround sound speakers.
Your PC does not have enough power to directly drive speakers more than a few watts in power.
4 big speakers is almost impossible. You need to get an AV receiver.
Man, I gotta do some other videos rather than these unboxings LOL. Well, as you already know, I am unboxing the Logitech Surround Sound Speakers ...
I bought a new set of Panasonic SA-PT660 surround sound speakers. I hooked them up and they're working, but I can hear static coming very very quietly out of the speakers. My bf can't hear it but I am pretty much positive I can. Any ways to fix this?
U might need to turn down or adjust the speaker setting in your home theater setup menu options. See your Dolby or DTS options. If this is not the case, check all speaker connections for wires making contact/loose connections.

When setting up surround sound speakers, should the front and right speakers ideally be angled towards the user or perpendicular to the wall? Note that the room is small, and that in this example their would only be one listener.
After viewing a dolby schematic, it appears the rear speakers should be angled and the front-right and left speakers should be perpendicular to the wall
The amount of "toe-in" for the L/R speakers depends on a lot of things: distance, throw-pattern of the receiver, etc.
The best thing to do is to try 3 different amounts of toe-in and pick what sounds best to you:
- Get a laser pointer or a cheap laser level. Hold this along side the L or R speakers to see where they are pointing.
Fire up an effects-heavy chapter on A:B repeat, turn OFF the TV and listen to these 3 different amounts of toe-in:
A: Where the L/R speaker sound intersects 2 ft in front of the primary listening position. This is the classic music speaker alignment.
B: Where the L/R speaker sound intersects exactly at the listener.
C: Where the L/R speaker sound intersects 2 ft behind the listener.
NOTE: You should use a Radio Shack SPL meter after each adjustment. Turning the speakers away from you will lower the volume a bit - and this few db sound reduction can cause you to not use a superior toe-in simply because it's quieter.

I recently purchased a Blue Ray player with a 7 speaker surround sound set up. If I only want to use 4 of the speakers (Left/Right/Center/Woofer), how do I go about ensuring that, when watching movies or playing video games, I don't have audio escaping me when traveling to speakers that aren't there?
The short answer to your question, is that you can't. When you move from surround sound to modified stereo, you are going to lose the spacial effects that surround sound was designed for. That said, you should explore your receiver's sound field settings for some setting that is designed for only the speakers you are using. The difficulty in advising you is that different manufacturers use different names for these settings. The place for you to start is with your receiver's manual. Look for a sound field setting that includes only the speakers you are using, and you will be able to take best advantage with the speakers you are using.
Great question btw.
I'm looking for a set of surround sound speakers to accompany my HD televsion. I've seen where I could get a set along with a DVD player (which i dont want) but i take it that would only work with DVDs, and not on say the Sky Box for example.
What I do want is a set of speakers that will work with my tv, i assume they will have to be plugged in.
Any references to websites or direct links to speaker systems would be much appreciated, thanks.
I gather from your question and the accompanying data that you do not have a very in depth understanding of how surround sound works.
Your basic surround sound setup consists of an audio receiver/amplifier (this will power the speakers and manage all of your audio content), 5 sattelite speakers, and a subwoofer. This is what you may have seen referred to as a 5.1 setup.
There are several purchasing options for a 5.1 surround sound setup. The cheapest and simplest method is to buy a home theater in a box, or htib. These htibs generally include a dvd player with a built in reciever/amplifier, 5 small speakers, and a small subwoofer. There are some htibs that simply have a receiver/amplifier w/o a dvd player attached.
You could also purchase all of the components of your system seperately. This usually results in a higher quality experience, but is usually much more expensive, and far more complicated.
Check these out.
