Truck Stereo Speakers

Today I saw a '78 Chevy P/U With a ceiling console and it held the stereo and four speakers over head where the head liner would be.
Dose anyone know where I can find one for my '85 Chev P/U?

My friend installed a stereo, amp, speakers, tweeters etc in his truck and the next day his electrical fried in the truck and smoke was rolling out from behind the head unit. Could the stereo being installed wrong cause this?

theres a few reasons why that could have burned up..thats why they have fuses..if you dont have fuses in the right places then those wires can run an unlimited amount and just roast the wires..so it could have been a fuse problem or just faulty wiring

I just got a sony CDX-GT410U and am now thinking of replacing my truck's speakers. I should open it up and find out if they are stock or not, more then likely they are, but in either case would like to know how to match speakers to this stereo.

I have factory speakers and a factory stereo in my truck. I primarily listen to my satellite stereo but would like to improve the sound and volume. I don't want to spend the money on replacing both, since I don't really use the stereo, any suggestions?

In my experience, changing the speakers results in the biggest improvement. Typically, factory speakers are extremely cheap with paper cones and weak magnets that can't deliver good sounds. Even the low-end speakers by any decent aftermarket company will give you a HUGE improvement!

be grounded to the frame of the vehicle? When it is not grounded to the frame it works fine but when I put it back in, as soon at the screw grounds the speaker case to the door, no sound.
I switched the wires and it makes no difference. If I am understand what you are saying, a grounded speaker case should not make a difference so it is probebly my stereo. It happened a few months ago with the other speaker and I just put the speaker in with silicone and not the screws.

I have come across this before. The speaker is shorted out from the voice coil to it's own frame. The speaker is bad. This is rare, but it happens.
