am not at all good in technical side, so need a clear help in building a nice HT. I cant complete the HT in a single purchase budget so am planning to built stage by stage. I have a good TV , DVD player
So should i start with a pairof tower speakers or bookshelf and Amplifier.

how do u rate polk audio monitor50 series tower and advice me the matching amplifier. tell me a nice configuration under the least budget so that i can finish the set up in some time

First you need to know if you need 5.1, 6.1 0r 7.1 surround. Then you should find the right amp for that purpose. If you are on a budget, go with 5.1 . The amp and the sub are going to be where you spend your money. The Polks you mentioned are OK. Now all you lack are front towers, rear channel speakers and a good center channel speaker. I've never worried about matching speakers to amps. They just have to have the same OHM rating.

A friend gave me a speaker setup from Polk Audio. the center speaker is a Polk CSI5 Speaker and from what I can find is high end and nice. It has two inputs (2 sets of negative 2 sets of positive) and from reviews and specs it says it is " a true bi-wire bi-ampable speaker" what does that mean and how would I hook it up?

Bi-ampable means you can use separate amplifiers for the low and high frequencies going to the speaker system. It brings the internal connections for the woofer and tweeter out to the back of the cabinet where you could split them if you wanted to. To do this, you not only need another channel of amplification, you need an external crossover circuit as well.
The concept is that low bass frequencies need a big amplifier and the high treble frequencies do not - so, you give them separate amplifiers, just in case the bass momentarily demands so much of the amplifier's power that it would affect its high frequency response. This is already being done by having a 5.1 surround system (the ".1" being the sub-woofer channel).
While I can see a possible slight benefit of bi-amping for the main left and right channels, this is way, way beyond overkill for the center channel, which generally carries only dialog (so it won't even have any low bass)!

i bought a new headunit (pioneer p3000ib) and have it installed, although not the way i want.
it has 2 RCA outs on the back and a wiring harness to run to 4 spkrs.
my amp (cbf goin to get model# but its a us audio) has speaker inputs for 4 speakers and also 2 RCA inputs.
Now...
My mate says that i cant have all 4 spkrs and the subwoofer (us audio 12inch) all hooked up and working at the same time. he says i need to either choose between the front spkrs and sub or the rear spkrs n sub.
Is that true? coz that sux.
although he did day that i could have it all if i ran a pair of spkrs directly from the headunit.
is this all true?
i really dont wanna call the guy out and give him 80 bux to fix sumthing i know i can fix easy if i just knew how. i wired it all up no worries. pls help

What do i do at this stage? do i HAVE TO buy a new amp to run everything or can i do it without?

The RCA should be labeled, you didn;t tell us what the labels read.

Usually though, one RCA is for front, and the other gives you the choice of either rear or sub. Is this is the case for you, you have a few options...

1) run your speakers off your head unit speaker outputs (use the deck's high-pass crossover if it has it), and use the RCA sub out to power subs off your amp.

2) You'll need 2 amps, one 4-channel for your front/rear, and another amp for your sub. Connect the front RCA to your 4-channel amp, and set the amp to drive all four outputs off the single 2-channel input. You'll lose front/rear fader control this way, but, does that matter? Then use the head unit's other RCA out to connect to the sub amp.

3) Some 4-channel amps have a subwoofer output built in. This might be the best, easiest solution for you, but again it requires 2 amplifiers. Connect front and rear RCA's from the head unit to the 4-channel amp, and then use the amp's RCA output to connect to your sub amp.

I've read that the PS3 decodes Dolby True HD audio and can pass it through the receiver to the speakers. My question is, how can I tell if its happening? I've got a Sony STR-DH700 and it doesn't decode it, so I can't actually tell if the PS3 is or not. I've got the latest firmware on my PS3 as well and have my audio set-up through HDMI with all available codes. Any help would be appreciated.

Just press Display button on PS3 remote control and see What audio format Blu-ray disc playing on TV screen.
