Tv Surround Sound Speakers

if the surround sound speakers are hooked up to the TV, does the TV speakers actually work, or does the sound only come from the speakers of the surround system?

That depends if the problem is with the speakers or with the audio section of the TV or perhaps in the tuner. You should get a estimate to see if it can be fixed. A quick try of a surround sound system could not hurt, but it is not guaranteed to work.

we just bought a new tv (not hd) and we have surround sound speakers and i was wondering how would i connect them to the tv?and could someone try to show me a picture diagram?
i also want to connect it with my ps3 and tv and my tv model is a toshiba 36af42
but the speakers dont have colors they need speaker cable and i have some

You can't connect speakers directly to the output of a TV. You will damage the TV.

a) Buy a AV receiver suitable for your speakers
b) Connect the TV audio out to the AV receiver
c) Connect the speakers to the speaker out of the AV receiver.

An AV receiver has multiple inputs, so you can connect the PS3 to the receiver as well. Use the optical digital audio out for 5.1 support.

I have a flat screen tv and I have a Sony speaker set. I know that tells you nothing but I can get nothing through the speakers, so is there any simple ways I can get the the sound through. I have audio wires and the speakers play the radio but nothing else. I tried everything.

U should call that place where U bought the Speaker , or i think something wrong with the jacks(the Holes where U plug in the line connect TV and Speakers) behind the TV

I have a Sony 40W2000 LCD TV and a Sony 5.1 home cinema kit. I also have Sky HD. What cable do I need to get 5.1 sound out of my subwoofer and surround sound speakers from a Sky TV programme if it is broadcast in 5.1.

Also where does the cable connect to and from. Will a HDMI cable do it all or do I need a separate optical cable. Can you give me the exact name of the cable as it seems some retailers sell cables under different names.

as long as your home cinema kit has opticial in, then there is no problems

Just plug the optiacl from the sky hd box into the home cinema kit.

both the tv and the surround sound system have HDMI.

Connect optical cable from cable box or TV to system.
