White Stereo Speakers

If you're familiar w/ this scam, you know it's one or two people (usually guys, but I've heard of girls doing it too) in a white van hawking stereo speakers. The speakers aren't worth what you're paying for. How do you stop these people?

Good question. This is actually wide spread, and has been on the news. Someone tried to stop me once while I was driving. They kept yelling to me about buying speakers. I finally showed them my star, and asked if they gave discounts to the Police. Never got my answer. They left in quite a hurry.
Just get a description, and the plate number, and report it to the Police.

I am wanting to play music through my stereo speakers from my computer. The back of my stereo has the red and white plug-ins. I went to Radio Shack and the guy said something about a laptop not being amplified. I just want to know if it is possible to still receive good quality if I were to buy the cords or would it be a waste of time. Is it possible at all or should I just buy better computer speakers.

It depends on whether your stereo has an amplifier already...(unless its just a tuner it should) Does it have the ability to change modes such as CD, tape, Phono, Aux?

If there is just get an adapter that goes from a mini plug (laptop headphones jack) to the red and white (left and right channel) plugs....make sure you plug it into the "input" on your stereo and most likely change the setting to Aux. You will have to adjust the sound on the stereo and laptop to make it sound good but it should work just fine.

I just bought two decent stereo speakers and hooked them up to my computer. It sounds great, but i want more sound so im wondering if i could hook up my computer speakers to my new ones. The computer speakers are normal speakers and have just the one cord to plug into the computer, where as the new speakers have the same cord except to plug them into the speaker it uses a red and white plug in thingers. There are 2 slots each of these red and white inputs, so im thinking it has something to do with that. Any help? This question probably sounds really confusing, but any ideas would be appreciated.

yea use something called a duel port, or headphone splitter, what they do is instead of there being 1 port 4 ur headphones, u then plug the duel port in and there is now 2, so plug in both speakers and have some fun loud music.
Note: If 1 of the ports on the duel port, then you will only get sound out of 1 side of the speakers, so have both speakers plugged in at the same time. But if u want only one set then get rid of the duel port altogether, because as i said, you will get sound out of only 1 side of the speakers.

Both my computer and stereo have a red/white connections.

I've tried connecting my computer to the stereo with a white/red cable and putting my stereo in aux mode but it doesn't work.

I want to get a wire to go from ipod/computer to big stereo speakers that have red/white places for wires. is there a wire that exists and where can i buy one?

actually no, those big speakers require an amplified signal that a computer and iPod cannot provide. You will need other stereo equipment to run it. That why they make so many kinds of "powered speakers" gizmos made just for Ipods.
