I am looking at buying a surround sound system, and it seems thye all come with wireless speakers.
Now i dont want my home network and speakers conflicting for the 2.4 band so i would rather just run the speaker wires for the rear under the floor in the basement and back up.
They do not all come with wireless speakers. In fact that is not the standard at all. Look harder and don't get wireless as it will introduce more RF energy into your home.

I keep searching "wireless" sepeakers for surround sound, but when I get them they are really not wireless, I have to hook them to a "box" in the back of the room, the only convience is the wires do not have to be ran from the front of the room to the back, but there are still wires, so how can this be wireless? Are there any true wireless speakers out there?
Currently no truly wireless solution exists for speakers. There are several reasons for this. Speakers require an amplified signal to create sound, thus the speakers must have power. The obvious solution would be to give the speakers batteries. This has been tried and has failed miserably. The sound is crippled and the batteries must be replaced in annoyant frequence. Furthermore, the RF signal used to transmit the audio signal is prone to interference from other rf sources, whether it be radio waves, your wireless network at home, and rf-based remote controls. This causes a huge loss in audio quality in most home conditions.
When considering wireless solutions, know that there is a significant drop in audio quality, and reliability.

I have a surround sound home theater and have run wire in my home. We are moving though and I want to know if I need to run more wire again in the new home or if there is a way to make my speakers wireless.
As for right now the wireless speaker is still not the best. You can see review from Cnet.com on Logitech Z-5450. The signal is still not strong to the surround sound speaker, it interfere with your cellphone, or other wireless product at home. If you are a person that enjoy music wire is still the way. Wire can be hide.
The other audio home sound you could think about is new virtual surround speaker. Like SoundMatters. But, they don' have a subwoofer.
Or, the Yamaha YSP-1100 is the new one $1400.00. The older one is YSP-800. It less then $1000.00

Am seeing plenty of conflicting opinions so hoping a true expert can cut to the chase. Still use a 29" Mitsubishi TV, about 13 yrs old, due to the exceptional video quality when viewed side-by-side with newer TV's.
well they are getting better and it really depends on the brand. you will not notice a big drop in quality but a true audiophile would never use wireless speakers. they just aren't quite as good. but if you hate the wires i would say look around and find a good brand to buy.
Can you get true surround sound without all the wires and speakers dotted about the room?
Unknownsoundman explains it perfectly!
You CANNOT buy a good wireless speaker system, at any price.
They ALL suffer from breakup, distortion and dropout, due to electrical appliances, mobile phones, passing taxis or even someone just walking around the room.
If you want to actually enjoy your home cinema experience, you must have wires. Wireless does not work.
