Wireless Speakers Music System

I have a lot of mp3s saved on my PC and would like to able to send them around the house to wireless speakers/systems but I would also like to be able to control what is being played even if I am not at the PC, some kind of remote control system that I could control Itunes or whatever remotely, does anything like this exist?

I have 2 different wireless headphone systems and neither is great. I have never seen a system such as you require...;

I have a friend who wants to take the music from his Bose home theater system and wire up every room in his house for his continuous Apple TV MP3 music players whatever, but not all rooms can be done with wires, so we need to find out if there are any wireless devices out there that can do this. Something we can hook the wires coming from the back of the Bose into a wireless transmitter with several speaker receivers. Thanks!

He ought to go to Best Buy and see what they have for generic wireless connections. Unfortunantely, since Bose is a system that we call a non-conformist, meaning the parts are not interchangeable with other systems (in otherwords it doesn't play well with others) the system BB associate may talk about may not even work. Your friend may have to find out if Bose has a wireless system that will work....it may be cheaper in the long run to buy a standard A/V receiver that can be connected to the wireless system at BB and has the capability to connect to the Apple TV MP3 players.

I am looking to invest into a sound system for our living room. This system would be strictly for music (no television involved, that's in another room). Here's the problem...We have an old house so wiring through the walls is not an option because I do not want visible wires throughout the room. I am considering the Panasonic SC_PT1050 or Sony (model???) rear wireless system through Sam's Club. An old friend had the Sony hooked up as surround sound for A/V purposses, and it was great for movies! However, my purpose is SOLEY for music, and I've read that music can sound "echoey" due to transmission delays to rear speakers. Is anyone familiar with these systems at Sam's Club (or anywhere for that matter)? Would I be better off goin with a Bose "Wave" style system? Or...Is there another option that I may be unaware of? Wireless surround sound systems work fine by transmitting audio signals to the individual speakers via multi-radio frequency transmitter.

Wireless speaker systems can be a bit misleading though.
Just because actual speaker wires are not needed, remember these types of speakers require a power source to operate.
(Wireless speakers are referred to as an active system. Wired speakers are referred to as a passive system.)

Just because you’re not required to run speaker wire to each individual enclosure, it may not be convenient to run AC power to each speaker for its proper location to recreate an accurate sound field.

The other issue you mentioned is the possibility of the system being “echoey”.
If you are using a surround system, you should have no problems if the equipment allows you to adjust the front and rear speaker delays. If you are using a conventional stereo system, there will be a slight delay dilemma if the speakers are not equidistant to the general listening area. Time alignment is critical for proper sound imaging. The amount of time delay will be dependant on the size of the room, the general acoustic properties with respect to wall coverings and type/size of furnishings.

My best suggestion prior to purchasing anything would be to use some speaker cabinets from another room or maybe borrow a pair of one of your friend’s speakers. Then temporarily hook them up and experiment with the locations you have in mind before installing them.

Do I want to search for home theater system, wireless speakers, or home audio system? What is best for this? How many speakers should I look for in the system? Also, I have an ipod, but even if it doesn't have a dock or a usb port, I have an adapter for my current stereo, so that's not the biggest factor. Advice?

It all depends on budget and what you really want. If you want to have audio throughout the whole house and not confined to only one room you need to look at a mulitizone audio system. These systems will allow you to connect speakers in different rooms to one stereo and connect different source (ie ipod, cd, cable box) to listen too. There are some considerations, can you run cables? These systems require speaker wires and usually control wires. Each room can operate independently from each other or as part of a group. The links below are for systems that I recommend researching. Both the sonos system and the control 4 system can be installed in a wireless fashion, sonos is strictly for music, while the control 4 moves into home automation.
