I want to be able to play music on my stereo speakers that I have outside (wired or wireless is fine) but they are big stereo speakers and I don't know how I would connect them or if the computer has enough power to sound decent on them. Help?
If you pull too much power through your sound card to your speakers, you risk burning out the circuitry in the card. Also if you cannot drive the speakers, you risk hurting them too. It is best to use your computer as a music server to a receiver that powers the speakers. The receiver usually has enough power through it's internal amp to power the speakers. You could also push an amp with your computer, but you'd get deeper sound through a receiver IMO.
Route the audio from your sound card into your aux in connection on your receiver.
Have fun with it.

i'm getting a wireless network set up to connect my computers, is there a wireless device i can connect to my stereo so that my music will come out through stereo speakers?
any suggestions for a wired connection are also welcome. Is there a cable that goes into my headphone jack on my laptop that will connect into the back of my stereo?

I have one stereo/speaker system in my family room (Yamaha AV receiver RX-V661) and the other stereo/speaker system (Sony FM Stereo/FM-AM Receiver STR-D665) is upstairs in my bonus room. There are no wires between these two systems. I also want 2 sets of wireless speakers for my deck and sun room. When I have a party, I want all of them to play the same songs from my PC media server. Is this possible?
Great question Suzy- I'm trying to figure out the same.
But I'm finding that it's simplest to do it all wireless. So Split the media server OUT signal to wirelessly xmit to both stereos..→the wireless party speakers system already came with wireless signal thrower from the PC right. ? so your server OUT signal must split to 4 .
► 2 stereos and the 2 wireless. good luck-

I am looking for a stereo system that is capable of connecting wireless speakers to it. Our house is finished so wiring would be too much, but i can't find what I'm looking for. I want a stereo base that has a wireless port, that supports ipods, and wireless speakers. A remote wouldn't be bad either. I want to listen to music on our porch, kitchen, and living room(both kitchen and living room are connected) so that would only need a few extra to finish it off. It would also be nice to have the ability to add on more speakers eventually. It sounds confusing, and maybe alot, but its reall not. A stereo system that has wireless speakers.
I know the brands in the Crutchfield link. Sonos is okay, but it won't do what you're looking for. I've had several customers buy wireless speakers. To date, some have been returned for a refund and none of them are in use. One word: Interference
Are you sure wiring would be too expensive? Have you talked to a local installer yet?
I have a Wireless network in place in my house and i would like to hook up my speakers to it (similar to apple's AirTunes). Please tell me how to do this and if you need more information on what i have implemented email me at skulsh51@earthlink.net
You could hook up a laptop (or PC) to your stereo and use ICECAST to stream the music to your PC.
Very straightforward to do.
Or buy a dedicated wireless box to do it (expensive).
Hope this helps.
Cheers!

Mac -gt; Dock/Stereo wireless music - ehMac.ca
So here's my situation. My stereo (good sound) is across the room from my macbook (terrible speakers = awful sound). I want to be able to play music wirelessly from my macbook to my stereo. I have a dock attached already, and only one aux input on my stereo, and would like to keep using my ipod and dock combo, but i'm willing to compromise. I was looking at the airport express, my only problem with it is that its pretty expensive for what it is. as i recall, it doesn't support networked HDD attachment via its usb port? if i'm going to replace my router, or even spend that much money on a router that i don't really need (i live in a studio apartment, 2 routers is a lot), i'd rather just pick up...
