Ive just received a new surround sound speaker system that is quite old but very good quality, It has a rca (red and white) to input my xbox 360, tv and pc. Is there a way to connect them all to the same system? What will i need? Thankyou very much
The only way is connect your XBox and TV to a surround receiver and use its input selector. Buying an input selector alone wont do you any good if it doesnt have an amp to power the speakers.
I have my HDTV, PS2, PS3, DVD, satelite box, DVR and xBox all running thru my Onkyo, and works awesome.
So if you dont have a surround receiver, then you will need to get one. Good luck.

I recently played Call of duty worl at war at my friends house, and the gun sounds and music on my stereo TV sounded lame compared to how i experienced it in surround. Can anyone recommend some good speakers for me?
I live in the UK btw, the TV is HD
For a low budget, you should try some Logitech computer speakers. Make sure to get a set that has an optical digital input, or you won't get real surround sound. Try a set like this:

Note that the amazon UK price is almost twice what the amazon US price is, sorry about that.

Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound output
Output: RCA Red / White (L / R) channel; Toslink Optical Audio
they worked and then i rearranged my room,..hooked everything back up right.and now both the rear speakers don't work..i can hear static lightly so i no they work. but idk...the front speakers, center speak. and sub woofer all work like normal.
it could be possibly broken, you could have broken something inside with no external damage whatsoever, also it could be that u have the wires to the back speakers hooked up in the wrong spot. Try re-attaching the wire in the back and see if that works

I have logitech 5.1 surround sound speakers and a 22 inch HDMI monito. I am going to hook my Xbox 360 into this 22 inch HDMI monitor but dont want to use the two HORRIBLE speakers that are built into the monitor, I want to use my surround sound. Since I am hooking up VIA HDMI doesn't the sound travel via HDMI to the monitor? Or is there a seperate sound channel that needs to be hooked up, in which case I can just plug it into my surround sound speakers. So all in all I am asking if HDMI transfers both sound and video or just video and if it transfers both then can I hook up my surround sound?
Yes, HDMI will carry both the sound and video.
If your TV has an output, feed this to your Logitech systems.
But check the cable that comes out of the xbox. Mine has a Toslink optical jack that I run straight to a spare input on my receiver. You may need to do this if your TV only has L/R outputs and not coaxial/optical for 5.1 sound.
PS: I'm looking forward to the Simpsons game tomorrow.
I have a set of Logitech X-350 speakers. They have the standard PC connector plugs ( 3, green, orange, black). I wanted to know if it is possible to hook this up the the 360 and retain surround sound. I am thinking that a reciever that supports the PC outputs would do just fine. Any Suggestion?
I'm not sure there is an X-350. Don't you mean X-530? These ones: http://images.tigerdirect.ca/skuimages/l arge/Logitech-X-530-L23-7110-mai.jpg
If there is in fact an X-350, then my answer applies as well. What you need is an adapter. I have the X-530 set-up and it came with a little adapter that looks like this: http://xsgfx.com/images/klz1196658131p.J PG
I'm not really sure how these HD consoles work but my consoles at home, PS2 and Wii, have three composite wires: red, white and yellow. Like this: http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbvi ew_approve/3189440/2/istockphoto_3189440 _audio_video_cable_isolation.jpg
The red and the white ones should go in your surround adapter instead of the TV and the yellow one just goes into the TV. Just plug the speakers in the adapter and you have surround sound.
Again, I'm not sure if the Xbox 30 comes with these cables so you should check that first. If you don't have the surround adapter I refer to, you can buy one separately. I have the X-530 speakers so if yours are the same, try to look in the box to see if you have the adapter.
Yo can buy the adapter here: http://www.amazon.com/Console-Adapter-Co nvert-Plugs-Single/dp/B0006U3ACY
Many people complain that this is not true surround because it's a stereo signal spread over five speakers, but I used this with a DVD player and the THX sound test recognized all surround speakers as unique channels.
