Two Way Radios Answers
"if a 4-Watt two way radio worked for example up to 3kms away, then mathematically, due to decrease in signal strength a 1-Watt two way radio would only work up to 1km away.
"This changes with each and every environment with different factors like line of sight and what the radio signals have to bounce off or penetrate etc, but at least this gives you an idea."
According to this I guess 5km would be a good guess but it depends on weather conditions and the size of the antenna: "The larger the two way radio antenna is, the larger the dispersion of the signal and therefore the range of the two way radio."

2) how much current flows through a circiut if the resistance is 4 ohms and there is a 12-volt battery?
please show formula
3)how much current flows in a 12-watt radio connected to a 120-Volt circuit?
please show formula
4) if you have two 5-watt bulbs connected in a series and then in parallel.
which circuit arrangement will give you brighter bulbs?...i know its parallel can you explain why i dont understand?
1) Q = m*L
where Q is the quantity of Heat energy, m is the mass of ice and L is the latent heat of fusion
Q = 40kg*3.33x10^5J/kg
2) I = V/R where I is the current in ampere
V is the voltage in volt
R is the resistance in ohm
I = 12/4 = 3A
3) Power (P) = V*I
12W = 120V*I
I = 12/120
I = 0.1A
4) The parallel arrangement will give you more current and therefore more brighter bulbs.
Resistances or load resistance add up when connected in series and therefore the supply current is reduced but the total resistance in parallel is less than the the individual resistances and causes more current to flow, ergo brighter burning bulbs!

I currently have two 5.25 inch Boss LA53's in the front (150 watts RMS, 300 peak) and two 6X9 inch Boss D69.5's in the back (400 watts RMS, 800 peak). Obviously this is too much power for a radio to handle and i am very inexperienced in the knowledge of car amplifiers. I would simply like to know what kind of an amp would be appropriate for this system (what kind of wattage i would need more importantly, and perhaps good brands as well.)
well going by the differance on rms watt, cause that's what really matters.
i would say 2 thing. get a amp for the front speakers and a amp for the rear 6x9's. or. you can go with boss that is the same brand of your speakers. if you go with 1 amp. you'll need a 4ch. amp
check this one out.
CX1000 four chanel amp. 200watts x 4 @ 4ohms. rms. just don''t turn up the gain to much cause you might blow you front speakers.
hey guys, i have a older SEARS CB radio that i bought at the flea market last year. it is a 5 watt? and has 20 channels. It has Two plugs on the back. one thats for an external speaker and one for a PA. the plugs are the same and my little homemade tester speaker that's a 3.5mm plug (standard for ipod, cd player etc) fits into the plugs and the unit recognizes it because it shuts off the internal speaker. when i speak into it i hear nothing, not even static. my question was do these CB radios have a special plug or does this plug just not work? ( i know my 3.5 mm homemade speaker works because i plug it into my ipod and can play music through it.)
it should work with your speaker. you should not need anything special. make sure your settings are all correct, like it is plugged into the right one. The CB has to be in pa mode to talk in pa, and the speaker has to be plugged into the right jack (pa jack) And then the same for cb, the speaker must be plugged into CB for cb and it has to be switched to AM mode.
if your speaker is powered or requires a higher input that may be the problem. you may need to get a little booster. or try a smalle rspeaker or some head phones see if it works with head phones (with the volume REAL low) and turn it up till you ca hear.
