This radio is cool...... Houston Communications Inc 1-866-406-7688 www.houstoncommunications.com
I'm a security guard and we use two-way radios for communication but I'm going to be getting a CB radio and was wondering if it's possible to use it to talk to a two way radio. Like would it be the same frequency or the same channel as on the two way? Thanks.
Definitely not. CB channels are between 26.965 MHz (channel 1) and 27.405 MHz (channel 40). The majority of two-way communication radios use frequencies between 460 MHz and 470 MHz.

9 Levels of VOX for Hands Free Operation
I'm 24 and have dealt with two-way since I was 9, but need help researching and finding what would be the best handheld radio with the most wattage output.
Commercial handheld radios are pretty much limited to 4 watts of power for UHF and 5 watts for VHF. The unlicensed radios are typically limited to 1/4 watt. You can't get any serious range going handheld to handheld. The lower power and small antenna limits the reach. Depending on terrain (buildings, trees, water, hills, etc) you might get 5 miles or so. The unlicensed radios claim 1 mile but seldom get this far. You would need to use a repeater to boost the signal strength and range. You can pay for repeater access from a 2-way radio shop. You can also become a ham and use a ham repeater. Kenwood radios are a good value. Motorola is good but tends to be pricey. Icom is also a good brand. There are many other brands available.
Can a licenced two way radio, still scan for PMR466 radio activity.. but due to the radio being more powerful as it is licensed, it could tune into radio activity further away due to the better range?
If a licenced radio has more power, that means it can transmit farther, not necessarily receive from farther away (unless receiving from another stronger radio). Switching from one model to another, one brand to another, or even just a newer radio, you might have better sensitivity than the older one allowing farther receive. Weather, terrain and obstacles (mountains, buildings, trees, etc.) also can affect your communications range.

Woodstock Wisdom | Psychology Today

Hey, I know I'm a little late, but I was a little late to Woodstock too. I hadn't planned on going, but then another doctor as young as I was then called me up, desperate--actually, crazed. "You've got to get up here, man. They've got hundreds of thousands of people coming, and there's no food, no place to stay, nobody to take care of them."
"I saw on television that the roads were jammed."
"Forget about it, man-we'll send a helicopter."
And he did.
And that's how my girlfriend Sharon and I--veterans of the civil rights and anti-war movements, former residents of the Haight-Ashbury and Berkeley, and passionately committed to "health care for all"--found ourselves on the way to Bethel, New York.
