Simple! All depends on the terrain or the location of your transmitter.
In a big city, we can talk from 3 to 6 Km. In a city with a repeater on a high mountain, we can put our signal at more than 20 Km. And in a flat terrain without any obstacles, but at the normal human heigth, no more than 6 to 10 Km.

What would be in your zombie survival pack?

This question was probably done before but I thought it'd be fun to do it again.

The backpack should have things you could reasonably have stocked up on at home or could come by easily. (Except for the guns.) They should all be able to be carried in a normal sized backpack.

You can carry one extra weapon in your hand like a shotgun with aiming mechanism too help your accuracy in shooting the zombies.

1. Shotgun with infrared aiming device and extra bullets
2. Handgun and extra bullets
3. 2 Bottles of water
4. Antibiotics like cipro and pain killers
5. Hunting knife
6. Flashlight and extra batteries
7. Nutrition bars
8. Rope with hook tied to it
9. Bandages
10.Packages of seeds to grow some type of vegetables to grow if place found to hold up in
11. Transister emergency radio
12. Two flares and water proof matches

Even with all this I don't think I would last even 5 minutes in a zombie attack. :(( lol

1. keys to the tallest building in the world. ( hopefully the elevators working)
2. shotgun
3. lotsa food and water
4. a lot of batteries
5. parachute
6. medicine
7. medical suplies

and anything i find in this building

Second car battery or cap??

Ok... here's the deal.... a few months ago I was driving when all of the sudden, my car's electrical went bananas!

I have the following sound/video components in my car:

1- Alpine IVA-D310 receiver
2- Alpine CHA-S634 6-CD changer
3- Alpine MRP-F450 70wX4 amplifier
4- Bazooka BTA-10200 200 watt powered Subwoofer
5- Infinity Kappa 692.7i 6X9 front door speakers
6- Boston Acoustics SX60 6-1/2" X 6-3/4" rear door speakers
7- Clarion 7" head rest monitors (2)

While driving, I had my AC on, my radio blasting, all 3 video monitors on and two 24" neon light tubes under my seats... to make a long story short, my car shut off and wouldn't turn back on. Even after a jump from another car, I had to shut everything off otherwise my car would stall. After that, I bought a new battery and don't want have to go through that again. I was told to get a Capacitor for my system and maybe a second battery. Any suggestion?? I have a 2003 Mazda Protege 5.

Extra batteries and/or caps will make your problem WORSE.
Caps do not do what they are advertised to. They actually don't make any difference UNLESS you have upgraded your alt. Caps and/or batteries will pull MORE power from your factory alt., causing it to overload and go out. I've seen it happen.

Do the Big3 Upgrade (power -charge- wire from alternator straight to batt., ground wire from batt. straight to frame, and ground from frame (same place preferably) to engine block) all in 4g or bigger wire. This will provide the instantaneous power to your batt. from alt.
This will stop headlight dimming and voltage drops -which KILL electronics.
If this alone doesn't do the trick (I promise it'll help DRAMATICALLY) then an alt. upgrade is next on the list.

Remember, power cannot be used if it's not created (by alt.) and efficiently reach battery (where it is then used).

Good Luck!

Circuit Board Help-Trying to Diagnose?

I have a cordless drill that I am having trouble with. The drill works fine, but the charger I believe is bad.

Problem:
When I plug the charger in and attach a battery, the charge LED does not light. The battery has a slight amount more charge after a 24 hour period, but not enough to actually do any good (just noticeable difference). I have two batteries that both respond the same way so I am assuming that it is not the battery as that would be quite the coincidence.

Circuit Info: I don't know as much about circuits as I would like, if someone gives me the parts and a picture I can put one together, beyond that not much. The circuit is quite simple. There is a "wallwort" that plugs into the wall, this delivers 17.4v of, as far as I can tell, AC power to the circuit. The circuit has two resisters, 1 at 100 Mohms, +/-10% and the other at 4.7 ohms, +/-5% (or so their markings would suggest, but my multi-meter confirms the resistence). Aside from this there is a red LED, two leads that attach to the batteries, and four small round black circuit parts. I really don't know what they are (like I said, I wish I knew more about circuits). The resistors are labeled R1 and R2 on the circuit board, these things are D1-D4.

Question: Could these D things be the problem and how would I check this? I have a sophisticated Multi-Meter from Radio Shack but since I don't even know what these are, I don't know what test to do. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I thought that but they don't look like any capacitors I could find online though. They could be though, how would you check a capacitor?
After looking up diodes, you are right, that is what they are. I don't have my manual anymore and my multimeter just has symbols. Do you know a site that explains, or could you talk me through, how to test a diode and see if it is working properly?
This is my multimeter:
http://www.radioshack.com/sm-42-range-di gital-multimeter-with-electric-field-det ection--pi-2103175.html

D1, D2, D3, and D4 are diodes. "D" is used to indicate a diode. The 4 diodes are probably connected in a full-wave bridge circuit. Most multimeters have a diode-check function. If not, you can measure the resistance which should be much lower in one direction. You could have a bad diode or a bad connection. You mention a 100 MOhm (100 Megohm) resistor and I can't guess what it's doing in such a simple charger circuit.

Edit:
Your meter does have a diode check function. See the link for the users manual for your meter. The directions are on page 6.
