Cb Two Way Radio

I'm on amazon and I need a communications unit for my farm and radios would be perfect. I'm looking at two products: Midland 1001Z 2-Way CB Radio, and Midland Outfitter Series GXT1050VP4 50-Channel 36-Mile Waterproof 2-Way GMRS Radio. Can you communicate well between these two products. I was wondering because they both say two way.

GMRS and CB are different frequencies.

I'm a security guard and we use two-way radios for communication but I'm going to be getting a CB radio and was wondering if it's possible to use it to talk to a two way radio. Like would it be the same frequency or the same channel as on the two way? Thanks.

Definitely not. CB channels are between 26.965 MHz (channel 1) and 27.405 MHz (channel 40). The majority of two-way communication radios use frequencies between 460 MHz and 470 MHz.

Yes it would, in theory, be possible as long as the target kept transmitting for long enough.

How? You would use a highly directional antenna (i.e one that would only pick up the signal when pointing almost straight at the target) and sweep it slowly through 360 degrees. When you pick up the target transmission, you know, roughly, what direction the target is in.

Keep doing that while traveling towards the signal and you would eventually find it.

A better way would be to use 2 or more directional antennas simultaneously in different locations. Both would use the same technique to find the direction of the target and then the two directions could be used to triangulate the target. This would be much quicker and more accurate than the first process but would obviously require more people/antennas and co-ordination between the two.

I am looking to buy Cobra 29-LTD 2-Way 40-Channel CB Radio. i was just wonder what the two way part means. what is the differnce between the other cb radios

All CB radios by definition are "Two way" which means they both receive and transmit.

I just bought a Cobra 19 Ultra III CB Radio and a pair of Cobra CX80 Two-Way Radios. Will these work together? if so, on what channels? and what kind of antenna should i be looking at for the CB Radio, is http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d o?product_id=11974008&findingMethod= rr a good one?

no, they will not talk to each other.

The Cobra 19 is on "CB radio", 26.96 MHz to 27.45 MHz. These are used on AM and you can talk to other CBers and truck drivers.

The CX80 is on "FRS radio". These are on 462/467MHz, they use FM and you can talk to other FRS users in your immediate neighborhood.

The antenna you show will work on the Cobra 19 just fine. It is not the best antenna, but it will work.
