I believe that stray signals from your communications devices can create stray signals in the lines that control the explosions--or at least there is a fear of that. Considering the consequences (stuff go boom), it isn't too much to ask that you turn them off.

The ADVENTURER high quality digital tuner provides assured access to news, weather information and illumination whenever and wherever you need it. The rubberized finish makes the WR-111 a robust radio for hiking and camping. Also included is an alert mode, which will activate the weather band while in standby mode when a weather alert is active in your area.
The ADVENTURER is a five way charger - charge from a USB device (computer), AC or wall power (with optional converter ASIN B0049J2FIS), DC or car charger (with optional converter ASIN B0049J43EW), hand crank, or solar panel. The Ambient Weather WR-111 is a radio that you and your family can depend on, anytime, anywhere, any weather.
A must for any emergency toolkit, buy one for the house and one for the car! The ADVENTURER is a Digital AM/FM NOAA Weather Alert Radio and a powerful 3 LED flashlight, with cell phone, MP3, MP4, Amazon KindleTM, Apple IpodTM, IpadTM, IPhoneTM and USB charger, all in one portable package.

If you guys need detail I can post more, but right now I have an extra handset and want to know if it is possible for somehow making it so that it transmits signals through the base so that other two way radios can pick them up and transfer the signals back as understandable speech.

I have been giving my supervisors cell phones for work. This is not working and I am looking for a way to keep our office, 3 supervisors and myself connected via 2 way radios (or similar). This would mean buying out of the sprint contract for two phones. I need up to a 30 mile range.
Nooo... ham radio is not authorized to conduct business. Each operator requires an individual license, plus amateur radio only allows for personal communications. Not an option.
Same goes for GMRS.
Strictly an issue for the Business communication service.
You need to contact a two way radio company. You will need to operate through a repeater system, as direct communication will not be possible at these distances.
You will need to see if there is a specialized mobile radio system in your area. If so, you can buy access to the system.
Equipment costs are rather high, although many two way radio compaines offer a lease option.
You could pay over $500 per unit for access to an 800 Mhz trunked system... plus access costs. Costs for UHF and VHS equipment may run about $250 per unit... plus repeater access, if available in your area.
See link in my source line.
You may wish to consider Nextel.

Magazine editor Eddie Alterman that took place at a deserted air strip showed that texting while driving had a greater impact on safety than driving drunk. While legally drunk, Alterman's stopping distance from 70 mph increased by 4 feet; by contrast, reading an e-mail added 36 feet, and sending a text added 70 feet. [Photo courtesy of Paul Oka ]
To ensure that Amateur Radio is not an unintended victim of the growing public debate over what to do about distracted drivers, ARRL President Joel Harrison, W5ZN, has written a letter to the National Safety Council ( NSC ), highlighting issues regarding the use of Amateur Radio emergency communications devices in vehicles. Many states have outlawed the use of cell phones while driving; some states with these laws have ambiguous wording (such as "mobile communication devices" or "mobile electronic devices") concerning the use of Amateur Radio while driving.
