Two Way Radios Answers

what is the strongest wattage of handheld transceiver(walkie talkie) in the market?

i done some period of research and found the highest wattage is 7w, icv82/icu82 of icom.inc. 7w is about an effective range of 56km in optimal condition, 4.5km in congested areas.

I do not know if you are talking about Amateur Radio service, or FRS/GMRS.. What I DO know, is a 7 watt walkie-talkie type radio has a rather short battery life.!!!!

Hand-Held Walkie- Talkie DX. Sure! .wmv

CB Operator working DX on quot;hand-held walkie-talkie.quot; Maybe not true but fun to listen to anyway.

what is the biggest difference between a walkie-talkie and a handheld mobile cellphone?

The type of signals that each use. With a walkie-talkie, you need to be in fairly short range of someone to hear them. Given that you have service, a cell phone can be used with either person almost anywhere on Earth.

Handheld Radio/Walkie Talkie. Dup Button?

It has a button that says "dup" What is it for?? always wanted to know
And i DONT have a manual or anything

It's hard to say since you don't give the brand or model of the radio but it probably stands for duplex. This mode is used to access repeaters for a larger operational area.

Walkie talkies ok on an airplane?

Will be flying commercially in about 2 weeks. I've searched all over the internet, including www.tsa.gov and answers.yahoo.com, and it looks like it should be ok to have the small handheld Midland walkie talkies, the FRS radios. Should be able to pack them neatly in my carry-on, and put them thru the scanner, and all should be fine. Do you have any experience or knowledge that says otherwise?

Thanks!
Just flying from Denver to Phoenix, so no weird concerns for another country.

I have personally carried transceivers on board, both small(ish) handhelds and larger 50W mobile rigs. No problem. At least domestically. If you are flying internationally, that can be a different matter.

How would i sell equiptment for a Ham Satellite Radio?

All the equiptment is in Columbus GA. There is a satellite tower that would need to be disassembled. We also have the handheld walkie talkie thing. (sorry dont know much about all this) And also have the box for the frequencies. I've been trying to research this online to find out how much it is worth and to find out how to sell it.

Can you help?

Contact your local amateur radio club .... http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/club/cl ubsearch.phtml

They can help you identify them... then it will be easy to value them. They may know someone who wants them as well.

  • What radio frequency for handheld pager to pager device? - The ...

So I have this idea for a new game that requires a very simple remote control radio device. Basically I want to have a person to person pager, that runs off some form of radio band. Essentially I want to have the function of the call button on a walkie talkie, that makes another unit vibrate. And vise versa. But I don't need any voice communication. So a handheld device, battery powered, and very small, that has a button that pages an identical device via radio, and makes it vibrate. Initially I thought I would use the FRS radio band, but after looking into the FCC rules I believe I discovered that they will not allow that without the ability to transmit voice back and forth. The travel...
