Micro Walkie Talkie

My kid received a present from the USA - the handsets work with each other, but not with any UK models, so you would make someone very happy with a solution. I can do basic soldering, but not micro work. Alternatively, a reference to anyone who could do the modification would be much appreciated. Thanks.

That's a daft question, they are set on a frequency to talk to each other, it's not UK or US spec... You can re crystal to another frequency but it's hardly worth the work involved... most work on around 46 MHz but some still use the old 27 MHz, if you want to convert from 27 to 46 forget it, you'll need to re-tune or replace all the coils and tuned circuits...

They arn't very expensive, buy some more from Maplin...

I am thinking of buying a set of walkie talkie radios, they are frs/gmrs frequency, I PLAN TO USE them for fun, someone told me that in order to use these handheld radios like these that it may be neccesary to get a license from the FCC IS THIS TRUE OR FALSE ?
OK THAN IF I NEED A LICENSE TO USE THESE WALKIE TALKIES, WHERE AND HOW DO I GET ONE, AND ARE THEY SPENDY, AND HOW DO THEY CATCH PEOPLE WHO DONT GET THEM? WHY WOULD A LICENSE EVEN BE NECESSARY? ANY AND ALL INFO ON THE I WOULD APPRECIATE, THANKS BB
Sorry I new to this, as well new to this "ask" feature, but thus far, am thinking its great, thanks to you all, for the help, however, when I recieve the radios in the mail, will there be specifics in the instructions, maybe telling me what channels do and dont require a license, also are the channels that require a license, better in distance, and or quality etc, I would prefer the most range possible ,, also when I went to the fcc website, it asks what type of license am I it was very confusing etc, and not sure if the license has to re newed every year, and or how much,??,,

A license is required to use all GMRS frequencies. The website below will tell you how to get a license.

Can somebody please tell me how to exactly program a AT89c4051 micro controller?

What I want to do:
Basically, make a robot.Connect the controller to some CDS cell, get the input, send it through a walkie-talkie headset. The code is received in the computer, and it does the necessary action,by sending it the same way.

i need a qwerty phone that is under 150 dollars that i can use on prepaid...

i found 3 i like

the samsung intensity- verizon (i like that is has a qwerty but i'm not to keen on the design of the phone, i also like that it is for verizon but they don't have an unlimited plan, so it ends up costing me about 70 dollars a month)

the rumor 2- for virgin mobile (i love the design of the phone and it seems great, they have a 50 dollar unlimited calling + 10 for unlimited texting, so 60 a month, which is 10 less than i pay now, however i don't generally like the virgin mobile customer service)

and the motorola clutch- for boost mobile (the design is clunky, i've heard the phone isn't that great, its more like a blackberry, which i don't like, and there is no slot for a micro sd card, however the service is great and they only charge 50 a month for unlimited web, text, calling, and walkie talkie)

which is the better deal?

i would deff go with the virgin mobile/rumor 2 deal. its a really good phone and as long as you don't have problems with the company or the phone itself, then you won't have to deal with customer service. and plus, it's less than you're paying now, so go for it!!!
