Is it possible for me to use my two way radio in different country? particularly manila to bangkok?

Someone told me that every countries have different frequency alloted to two way radio.

It depends. Look up your provider's services to where you are going. I know that it works in Pakistan from having done it there. Good luck!

¿Is it necessary to request a license to FCC in order to use a two way radio equipment in the United States?

If you're traveling to the United States and your cellphone doesn't work, using a two way radio equipment is a good substitute?

You can get a cheap telephone here if you must - maybe 20 dollars or so, and then pay for calls on a per minute basis with a pre-paid card.

Depending on what agreements your carrier has with US carriers, even if your phone works here (and it probably does with some carrier - look into it closely!), this may be a cheaper solution for you.

Where can I get a two way radio for use in Europe?

Going to Holland Belgium Germany this summer. Would like to equip members of my group with two way radios so that we can easily contact each other in what will be large crowds.

> Very simple two way radios from the US will work just fine.

Are you sure about that? If they use different frequencies in Europe you might end up distorting important things like police radio and that will get you into big trouble.

Better buy them from a German web shop, e. g. from ebay.de, from these categories:
"Startseite > Kaufen > TV, Video & Elektronik > Funktechnik > Walkie-Talkies" and "... > CB-Funk"
(The German word "Funk" means radio.)

Maybe http://www.ebay.co.uk/ is better for you, since it is in English. You should be fine buying from the UK, I think the radio-frequencies are standard across Europe.

paying the fcc to use a two way radio?

i want to buy a two way radio to communicate with my husband while he is at work, its a 2 mile distance. However, while looking to buy one online, I see alot of reviews that mention having to pay the FCC to use them?! Is this true? I see two different types, GMRS and FRS. Can someone give me some links to a set of 2 way radios's, under $60, that you dont have to pay anything extra to use? Thank you!

FRS does not need any extra license, but GMRS does.

It's just two different systems. I find that FRS is good enuf for pretty much everything.

You may be happiest if you get a set with "privacy codes" to be able to ignore excess chatter.

What two way radio can you recommend w/ longer range, practical and best budget for personal use?

Now i've searched that most radios has maximum of 5watts output and they differ in price.
so far i've seen midland has good price w/ 5w output.
while icom..etc has 5w output yet they are a bit pricey.
why is that so?

should i go for midland or any motorola products?

pls advice. thanks

search ebay for the bellsouth ranger series or motorola talkabout series.

make sure it is limited to 14 channels only and has an effective radiated power of 500mW.

under the right conditions you should get a range of 2 miles to communicate over.

i mentioned these radios because they are legal for use w/o a liscence from the fcc.

the 5 watt 22 channels radios are also legal, but you need a liscence to use chan. 15-22 period, and 1-7 if you put out more than 500mW.

if you get caught communicating on the channels mentioned above you're liable to get a $10K fine from the fcc
