What is the most affordable two-way radio option that will give me up to a 30 mile range?

I have been giving my supervisors cell phones for work. This is not working and I am looking for a way to keep our office, 3 supervisors and myself connected via 2 way radios (or similar). This would mean buying out of the sprint contract for two phones. I need up to a 30 mile range.

Nooo... ham radio is not authorized to conduct business. Each operator requires an individual license, plus amateur radio only allows for personal communications. Not an option.

Same goes for GMRS.

Strictly an issue for the Business communication service.

You need to contact a two way radio company. You will need to operate through a repeater system, as direct communication will not be possible at these distances.

You will need to see if there is a specialized mobile radio system in your area. If so, you can buy access to the system.

Equipment costs are rather high, although many two way radio compaines offer a lease option.

You could pay over $500 per unit for access to an 800 Mhz trunked system... plus access costs. Costs for UHF and VHS equipment may run about $250 per unit... plus repeater access, if available in your area.

See link in my source line.

You may wish to consider Nextel.

paying the fcc to use a two way radio?
2 Way Radio Walkie Talkie Wristlinx Two Wrist Watch Toy

i want to buy a two way radio to communicate with my husband while he is at work, its a 2 mile distance. However, while looking to buy one online, I see alot of reviews that mention having to pay the FCC to use them?! Is this true? I see two different types, GMRS and FRS. Can someone give me some links to a set of 2 way radios's, under $60, that you dont have to pay anything extra to use? Thank you!

FRS does not need any extra license, but GMRS does.

It's just two different systems. I find that FRS is good enuf for pretty much everything.

You may be happiest if you get a set with "privacy codes" to be able to ignore excess chatter.

When do you need to have a radio license when using 2-way radios?

I am looking at buying some two way radios, but I have heard that certain distance-capable radios require a license to use. What is the distance before you need to apply for one?

Those hand held jobs you get at Bass Pro shops or Walmart don't get enough range to require a license, but if you get one capable of using Morse code or talk across the country, you need a "Ham license" which is easier to get now than 40 years ago. Good luck.

Best car accessory for two way communicaiton (walkie-talkie/2-way radio, cell phone + bluetooth)?
2 Way Radio Walkie Talkie Wristlinx Two Wrist Watch Toy

Me and my friends often have long road trips in two seperate cars and we would like to have a two-way communication device for talking between the two cars. Ideal would be something which switches itself on when the car starts and then we can talk.

1. One way can be a walkie-talkie, but it requires you to switch each time you want to talk.

2. Cellphones with speakerphone/bluetooth.

But I am looking something like an intercom which is on always (after the car starts.)

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

bluetooth cuz so you don't get pulled out by the police.
