Two Way Radios Answers

How much does a job in radio pay? Talk show, news, traffic etc,.. How much do these certain positions pay?

My cousin is just about to start a job on a radio station, But we all think that the pay will not be enough for him to support his two kids. Doesn't a radio job pay around 35,000$ a year?

working in radio at anything less then the top rated stations in major markets is nothing more then a minimum wage job.
the money in radio is in sales not on the air.
most radio personalities work sales as well as on air and spot production. many work part-time jobs to make ends meet.

unless you are really talented and in a major market this is a very hard way to make a living.
i seriously doubt the pay will be anywhere near $35,000.00 a year since he obviously has no experience in the business.

How can I get a job in Radio?

I live in a smaller town, about 8,000 people. Houghton, Mi, and I'd like to start a career in broadcasting, but I'm not sure where to start. I'm young, but already have started a career in business, but this isn't what I really want to do. There are two local radio stations in the town I live in, but I've never seen any jobs posted. I'd like any suggestions that anyone has.

Here's a good article. It discusses doing demo CDs and things. It also says that jobs are normally advertised in the (radio) trade press.

It says that one way in is via a sales and admin job. Once you work there, you can find out about any better jobs that are going.

You might start by working for an internet radio station. That would give you access to thousands more employers than just the 2 stations in your home town.

Doing a google search for "job in radio" in double-quotes turned up a lot of links.

How do I get a job at a TV, radio or news station?

Im interesting in pursing a job at a TV, radio or a news station.

I currently have a job as a warehouse worker and Im so sick of it. In the meantime, I studying to get my CCNA (in the IT field), but I also have an big interest in the TV/radio field.

I took a 1 year of media technology in school and 4 semesters of TV production at a local community college. And Ive been volunteering for the TV/audio department at my church (which is pretty large and well-known around the world) for almost two years now.

Im not trying to be a news reporter, radio personality or a executive-level employee but rather someone who works behind scenes. I wish I could go to a technical school or a get a Bachleors Degree in Communications, but I simply cant afford to because Im in so much debt right now. I would love to work in that type of environment though.

Please help.

Speak to the organization and see if you get your foot in the door as anything. I know 2 friends who worked as custodians and are not working in good positions on the stations.

This is a VERY competitive field. U have to have strong determination to pursue this. Talk to people in the business and really, if you have take out another loan to get the proper credentials, then do it. Good luck!

Which job is better a television/radio presenter or having your own clothing line?

I was wondering, if you could choose out of the two careers, which would you go for.

Two way radios and the law....?

Car drivers are not allowed to speak on thier HAND HELD mobile phones while driving in Britain, although many still do,saw one just the other day.
It begs this question though, I used to be a London Dispatch rider here in london before the advent of the mobile phone.
We use two way radios to communicate with HQ and would use them 'on the hoof' so to speak....that is while riding.
Riders compete for work and if you are slow to answer a call going out to dozens of people you won't be the one getting the job....great pressure to do something that is (or is it?) against the law now.
Does the mobile phone law here apply to two way radios?
I know a Magistrate would prosecute for it but only because they always say you are 'guilty' anyway unless UTTERLY forced to do otherwise.

2-way radios are not included, but someone who gets distracted while using one could be prosecuted under other, already existing laws.
