Two Way Radios Answers
i just purchased a two-way radio and i'm trying to get the channel number for the weather service
it's a cobra microtalk and it just has channel's
i don't know how to get a frequency on there
unless you know the NOAA frequency, just step thru the WX channels until you get a good signal.
This radio is cool...... Houston Communications Inc 1-866-406-7688 www.houstoncommunications.com

I've sold cell phones for many years now and if Nextel or Sprint together with Nextel is sold in your area they offer a plan for $199.99 per month that provides unlimited cellular minutes, data connect, and nationwide direct-connect. Hope this helps some!

What I mean is not using Push to talk services offered by phone companies but convert them to be completely peer to peer based. So you can send voice DIRECTLY from one phone to another, unlike a regular call which first goes to the phone network THEN to the other phone. Is this possible?
no you cant
if you try you will might damage your phone
I have been tasked with a project I know little to nothing about...
I am a new appointed area watch commander for a Law Enforcement Agency that has recently expanded into a new area that we didn't use to service... It is several hours from the nearest TWO WAY communication setup that we already have...
Now I know little to nothing about TWO-WAY Radios and I did find several local radio shops (all closed this weekend) that may know about renting a tower...
I have heard some talk that leasing a tower, or sharing, is as cheap as 14-17 dollars a month...
We already have the radios (both 400, and 800 MHZ) and ready to use them...
Does anyone know some more insight on this???
Also is it usually only local companies that will have towers available or is it something I could find with MOTOROLA and they have them all over??
Just let me know..
I would suggest checking with the local ham clubs. I have the link here.
You may already be familiar with the people in your area through Emergency Management agencies.
My guess is that if there are towers available, some of the guys, particularly the ones working on their own Amateur radio repeaters, will know where to find them and who to call about getting an antenna up there. You may be able to reach some of them on a Sunday.
The public service part of our hobby is one of the reasons the FCC is giving us spectrum space, so helping the police is not much of a stretch for most hams.
