Used Motorola Two Way Radio

I have a few GP340 UHF Motorola Two-Way radios, which need to be licensed before I can legally use them. I have not yet tried the programming software, but...

Can I set the frequency channels to the PMR channels in the range of: 446.103125 MHz to 446.196875 MHz (UHF)
The power output to: 4W

and legally use the radios without license in the UK?

or not even lower the power? Please advise.

In the UK, you are not allowed to operate any radio on the PMR frequencies over 500 milliwatts. As the minimum power on these radios is 1 watt, you are not supposed to use the PMR frequencies. However, the programming software does allow you to do so.

I work for a taxi firm at home and use a motorola radio,it was fine for weeks then started playing up sometimes I cannot hear drivers and sometimes they cannot hear me at all, this is only odd days and once it starts lasts for hours, do I need an ariel or is the problem from the main base unit as the quality is useless and makes work impossible, yet sometimes it is clear as a bell, please help!

You must have a service shop to handle problems like this. Take it in and have them check it out. If I had to guess, I'd say it could be a bad coax, but it could be many other things.

My wife and I are taking a cruise and would like to bring some radios to communicate. I'm wondering if a coupel of $40 Motorola two-way radios would work between decks. Any experiences or links?

We use the 2-way radios on board to communicate with our teens.

The only problem we had we many groups use 2-way radios while on board and it can be a hassle finging a channel that does not have alot of traffic on it.

Take along a power strip to charge the units...there is only 1 power outlet in the cabin.

Hello, I want to know whether I can communicate with a person having a two way radio from uniden or some other make with my motorola radio and what is the maximum number of radios which can be connected together(Can I connect more than 5 radios and communicate together )

Yes, as long as they are set to the same frequency. On cheaper store-bought radios, you usually just set them to the same channel. If you have professional radios, you usually will have to have them programmed by a service company. (or someone with the right software)

You can use as many as you want, the name two-way implies that you can only have one radio transmitting at at a time, meaning you have to take turns talking, instead of all at once like on the phone.

got it from my "awards" points from my credit card catalog. there wasn't anything interesting so i got that and i was just wondering if i'll be able to pick up frequencies from other entities like police, airport frequencies, etc....something interesting.. i really have no use for them otherwise but they were free...
i'm wondering because when i was a prod. asst. for the american music awards i had a motorola walkie and picked up police stuff and alot of other weird people...
or i could use it to freak people out and throw my voice around....ha.

Two way radios are usually limited to their own frequency. You can listen and talk to anyone with the same frequency.
